We recently discovered this quaint little shop with the most extraordinary selection of premium quality wool located in a beautiful Oxford pedestrian street. If you love knitting, then just go. You'll be delighted.

Brilliant little shop full of beautiful yarns. The staff are really friendly, helpful and passionate about knitting and crochet and are more than happy to help, even if it's busy. Highly recommend you pop in if you're in Oxford.

I love this yarn store! We’ve been staying in Oxford for about a month and I was so happy to have a local yarn store. Lizzy (not sure if that’s how you spell her name) was beyond friendly and helpful. She even talked through the best drama schools for my daughter to check out after she heard she was interested in moving to the UK for school. The yarn selection is great and I got to try some new local yarns. AND yarn is cheaper here than in the US so that was a nice bonus! I’ll be back the next time I’m in Oxford.

Discovered this website as it was the only place to find the wool I was after! Online order with very efficient delivery, excellent and thoughtful packing and a lovely note! This will not be my last visit!

A beautiful yarn shop with friendly and helpful staff. The choice of quality yarns is unbelievable for a small shop. I also really enjoyed the embroidery workshop I attended.

Fabulous yarn store for experienced knitters/ crocheters and those just starting to learn. Great selection of quality yarns, books and notions. I have taken several of their classes which were excellent. They often have trunk shops and visits from yarn dyers and designers.Lizzie, the owner and James are very knowledgeable and happy to help customers.

When you've finished at the OYS visit one of the neighbouring cafes for coffee and cake or one of the pubs for something more stronger.

A gem worth travelling for because they have some smaller brands in stock that I can otherwise only get online. It’s a hour away from me but sometimes I want to see, touch and choose yarns in person. I spent an hour on the floor of the shop deciding what I was getting and during this time heard many other people receive patient, informative and kindly service. I have been twice so far and I will be back.

Great yarn shop, you cannot go for a browse without finding something that you have to buy or being inspired for a new project. Many different types of fibre, including wool, silk, alpaca in many colours including some hand-dyed hand and variated yarn. I travel 50 minutes to get here because it has by far the best selection in the area. The staff are also super friendly and nice to chat with, especially when the store is a little quieter. The shop is rather small but full to the brim of yarn, I would advise to go a little later in the day for maximum browsing.

Most helpful staff. The best yarn selection in Oxford. Lots of isager, knitting for olive, rowan, etc.

The only thing I could possibly also want would be a couple more hand dyed yarns with a natural color palette.

I discovered the Oxford Yarn Store about 6 months ago and have visited several times now. Lizzie and James make you feel very welcome and are generous with their help and advice. There's a great range of yarns and patterns too. I've done several workshops there all of which I've enjoyed - yesterday's one was on steeking! The workshops are fab - James is just so knowledgable and a kind, patient teacher. I'll definitely be back for more.

The lovely owner Lizzy is knowledgeable and the various wools in stock are gorgeous. There are also workshops for beginners and clubs with a slightly more social slant.

Me and a friend visited this morning, we were camping locally, the lady was so helpful and helped us match a colour to my project, she was lovely and polite! We will definitely be back and ordering online!
