I stayed in the main cabin in a private room with shared bathroom and shower.
Pros-
Location was great - literally right across the road from the beach, within 5 minutes walking distance from all shops and restaurants.
Hotel personnel were nice and friendly.
There was no AC in the room but the fan worked good and I didn’t need more than that.
Con-
No hot water in the showers.

All in all a great place to stay, definitely worth the great price and great location.

Eco friendly cabins set in a lush tropical garden setting. Budget friendly location with dive shop and delicious Cafe on-site. You are literally footsteps from the beach at Half Moon Bay and can walk to anything in minutes in West End. I've stayed there solo in Mango Suite and with my 12 year old son in the cabin with two bedrooms and loved it both times. Going back very soon for 3rd visit. The owners are kind, attentive people who have owned the location for 30 years. It is a hidden gem for budget travelers wanting to be in a community feeling in West End in Roatan. I can't say enough positive things about Hotel Chillies.

We came to Roatan for some diving with friends, and were looking for a low key, relaxed place to stay. Chillies was perfect! We stayed in a cabin that was spacious and airy. We were very comfortable without air conditioning. Staff and management were attentive and helpful and made us feel more like family than hotel guests. It was also very convenient that the hotel was right beside Yohongreh, a relaxed small restaurant where we ate breakfast, and Native Sons dive shop. We just walked across the street and got on the dive boat. Highly recommended!!

I have been a guest of the Jackson's 4 times in the last 2 years and will head back this October with enthusiasm. They have dormitories that attract young travelers from around the globe, some air conditioned rooms in the new facility and 6 cabins that are nestled in a forest. I am a cabin dweller and simply love them. They still run the Native Sons dive shop and their crew is always friendly and accommodating. Half Moon bay is right across the street and the diving is wonderful.

Really nice and clean hostel. The hostel is 1 minute away from the beach and located in a beautiful garden. The stuff keeps everything clean and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking some nice meals. If you want to dive, they have an amazing dive shop as well.

Accommodation is basic but as long as you understand that, Hotel Chillies is a great stay. I stayed in a cabin with its own bathroom, all of which was clean and spacious. The bedroom does not have AC but has a powerful fan and at night the temperature is very comfortable. Wifi was spotty but good enough for me. The cabin is located at the back of the property surrounded by trees and lush vegetation. Cabin had a nice porch out front to enjoy the scenery and chill. Staff was friendly.

Considering the price, Hotel Chillies is amazing value. 5/5 from me.

Great for inexpensive stays. No frills lodging but clean, lovely people own/work there, out in nature, slept comfortably each & every night. Inexpensive breakfast/lunch avaliable on site. If I'm back in Roatan, would be my go to place. Great scuba diver shop/school on premises.

If your looking for a major resort, to be treated like a guest, served breakfast in bed, and be treated like a tourist this is not for you!
BUT,
If your looking for a place to be home away from home,
If your looking to feel like part of the family,
If your looking to be welcomed with open arms…
If your looking to have a great piece of paradise, privacy and meet amazing people, then this is 100% the place for you.
I have never been so excited to leave a review.
This hotel, is nestled in an amazing jungle garden. The cabins are so cute, and have an amazing home like feel to them.
Even with no a/c they are so cool, I had to use a blanket.
The staff are so friendly and ready and willing to help any time, even with spider removal ;)
This hotel is very fair in price, and Michele is amazing. Always quick to respond with any requests, no matter the time.
The grounds are very well kept, clean, and the shared kitchen is well kept as well.
The fridge is cleaned regularly, and everything you could need is ready and available. If they do not have it, they know where you can find it.

Stayed 6 night in one of the wooden cabins and it was perfect. Really comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly enjoyed the hammock on the porch and the friendly resident cats. It’s in an excellent location directly across the road from the beach and if you’re planning on diving, checkout Native Sons on the property. They were awesome!

Stayed two weeks with my daughter to get Padi certified. Had such a great time booked two more weeks before I left. Super clean and safe. Michelle does a great job with both the dive shop and hotel. Super chill, all quiet at 9 but the bars are right down the street. Was perfect! Miss it already.

We stayed in the main house with shared bathroom. Its a great location, right across from the beach but quiet. Atmosphere is very relaxed, safe, and comfortable. Grocery store next door (can use shared kitchen) and lots of restaurants options nearby. Quality for price is worth it! Nice sized rooms with airflow, clean bathroom and conformable beds. The hotel has a beautiful garden with a feeling of privacy and serenity. Owners are very nice (have a ton of experience being on the island for years) with good recommendations and staff. They have a dive shop attached with nice boat and amazing reefs on the front doorstep, perfect for cooling down on nice sunny days.

I meant to stay here for just a few days and ended up staying a few weeks. The prices are awesome, lots of green and flowers all over, it's right where you wanna be in West End, the owner is super nice and helpful, and the place seems to attract a lot of cool people who also stay there. right across from the beach and good places to eat/drink

This hostel is the best kept secret in Roatan!!!

I've stayed at Roatan's Backpackers Hostel, Turtle Beach, Splash Inn and now for my last 1.5 weeks at Hotel Chillies.

While the other accommodations we're all lovely I found I had to made sacrifices at each, whereas with Chilies I was living in Hostel luxury for less $$$.

Chillies:

Wifi: 11/10 - video calls for work, streaming movies in my room at the main house and in a hammock on the deck...... it's UNREAL here... she won't guarantee her wifi but she has 4 different wifi routers on the location and my friends and I have had ZERO issues with it.

Room: 7/10

clean, and because of covid I got a 3 bedroom room to my self. The mattress is a little older than some of the other places I stayed but still great for the price. The mattress would be my only small complaint but you get what you pay for.

Location: 10/10

On the beach, in West Bay, across from one of the best restaurants/yoga studios/live music spots in Roatan!!! Unreal location.

Vibe - 10/10

Hammocks, porch, in house restaurant for breakfast with great food, jungle garden with little cottages in the back (I stayed in the main house but you can rent a individual cottage in the back which we're super nice)

Host - 10/10

Michelle and her husband are very kind and accommodating hosts. This is a family ran hostel and they are very laid back and friendly.

Dive shop on site - 10/10

Cheap dives if you stay at the hostel $30

Price to stay: 10/10

$25 for single room USD - SUPER reasonable for this area!!

Security 10/10 - both a person that stays at the gate and cameras - you feel super safe and your stuff is safe.

Laundry service - 10/10

$10 for laundry (this is typical everywhere)

After staying there in 2013, I had the chance to return to the hotel Chillies in February 2016. With a friend, we spent a week in one of the cabins at the rear of the main building in a really beautiful tropical garden. The cabins are basic, while comfortable, well built, clean and well maintained. The place is really quiet. At night, you can sometimes hear the sound of the sea is not far. Everyone has access to a basic but clean kitchen, which reduces the cost of the stay. Michele, the owner and hotel manager is genuinely kind, available to give advice as needed. I would not hesitate a second before returning to this beautiful place.

I loved the place, nice cabins perfect to chill and have a get away weekend. There's the most amazing tropical garden you get to walk every time you go to your cabin. If diving is what you're looking for, they have a dive shop attached to the property with there own boat.
The service is great and honest, I happen to forgot my wallet outside the cabin and they return it with all the cash in it.

I stayed here for a few days recently to take my advanced open water course. The shared cabins are a good budget option, specially if you are traveling with one or two more people. They have an adequate small kitchen and bathroom. Kind of basic friendly accommodations with a fan and no AC. If you are in Roatan to scuba dive, like I was, this is a great option with the Native Sons diving shop right there. The mornings and nights can get a little noisy.

Stayed here twice now. They have decent prices for budget traveller's, 12 usd for dorm, 25 for private room. Not too many backpackers come through here it seems so you can sometimes get the dorm all to yourself. However, there's also not much in terms of social life going there but plenty of that right outside, sundowners bar is a good spot. Right across from the beach. They have a lil breakfast, lunch shop on grounds which is nice and tasty. The diving was chill, small groups, and easy plus decent prices if staying at the hotel!

Great budget stay. Clean and tidy. No frills. They do have some nicer suites as well but we choose a pretty budget end and it is a perfect fit, great value. Awesome dive shop on site. Staff is great like family and take great care of you.

I visited Roatan for the first time and I am glad I stayed at Hotel Chillies! I had an amazing quiet time in my cabin. I loved every single minute of it. The Hotel is right across the street from the beach! I would go in the eveing to watch the sunset. Amanda the receptionist was super cool, friendly, professional and helpful. As well as the Owners. Great place to unwind, rest, and recharge my batteries from my NYC hectic life. I will be back to Roatan, and to Hotel Chillies for Sure!
