Utila Dive Centre

Just finished my Open Water Dive with Jules, she was a great instructor. Sharky and Ella were assisting with the group and they were both a lot of fun. The whole experience was very fun, the groups are small and perfect for learning quickly. Can definitely recommend. 🐋

Everything just perfect! actually just came here for some fun dives but then did the advanced open water course (ask for Joan, he’s the best!) and couldn’t imagine anything to improve. Highly recommend UDC when diving in Honduras!

UDC was awesome!! My husband and I had such a great time and made a lot of friends. I want to give a special shoutout to Ruth! She accommodated me last minute on an afternoon fun dive. I was freaked out a little because I couldn’t equalize my left ear. She noticed I was struggling right away, was very assuring, and helped me so we could continue the dive. Also did some fun dives with Duncan and Jon B. They were knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, and we saw a lot of cool stuff including a nurse shark and an eagle ray!

Another highlight of our time was seeing dolphins in their natural habitat, showing off and jumping in the air! The captain stopped the boat for us and we jumped in with our snorkel and fins to watch them swim around us. There were even babies! (My GoPro battery died unfortunately!)

While I did my fun dives, my husband did the Open Water Course with Nana and he was really happy as well! She was so thorough and UDC does things very properly. You will be getting a good diving education down here. We’ll be back. Yay diving!!!

We had the BEST week diving at UDC in January! We had Devin as our guide the whole week and she made the experience SO FUN!! I cannot recommend Devin enough (seriously request her....)! The shop had such a great vibe, and our boat captain Ray was superb. We got the chance to hangout with Instructors Jon & Duncan who were so welcoming. Duncan took us on our night dive which was seriously the best of my life. We left at the end of the week feeling like we were part of the family. Can't wait to come back and dive with UDC in the future!!

It is definitely the best choice in Útila to either learn how to dive or to continue advancing your skills. I personally did the open water certification and it was an amazing experience. Our instructors Justin and Alejandro are really great teachers, they explain everything very well and always give practical examples from their experiences. They have done thousands of dives so they really know what they are talking about and it makes it easy to fully trust them.
Besides that, they make the classes and exercises fun as well, so time flies by and out of nowhere you are certified 🤙🏼😬

1000000% recommend Utila Dive Centre! My boyfriend and I stayed on Utila for a month and during that time, we took a combined total of 8 courses and 30 fun dives with UDC!

Everyone you encounter at UDC is welcoming, fun, knowledgeable, and ready to answer any questions you may have!

Jordan at the front desk was incredibly helpful and fun and helped us create a plan for our courses and dives during our stay.

We had a refresher course with Nat, who calmed any nerves I had before our diving adventures began!

We did several fun dives with Devin, Duncan, Nat, and Sam including an incredible night dive with tons of bioluminescence led by Duncan and Nat.

We even got to swim with dolphins on 3 different occasions thanks to Captains Brian and Ray!

Shaun was our course instructor for Nitrox and the Deep Specialty, and in addition to being an amazing instructor, he shares stories that make you want to keep exploring the field of SCUBA diving and what it has to offer!

Anton was my course instructor for my Advanced course and he made us all feel very comfortable doing new skills while keeping the course fun (ask him to show you his bubble skills)!

I’m sure I’m forgetting to mention specific people by name, but everyone on staff or interning at UDC helped make our experience unforgettable! It is obvious how much the team cares about the environment and conserving our oceans.

The food at their restaurant/bar is also incredible!

We stayed at the sister property Mango Inn and loved seeing our dive friends on the property. We also loved the amazing pool! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.

There are several dive shop options on Utila, but we are so happy with our experience with UDC and will absolutely dive with them again!

Had a great week here doing my Open Water cert and would 100% recommend UDC to anyone considering diving. It was a great place to do it and the instructors Duncan and Sharkey were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Fantastic value too.

Diving with UDC was AMAZING! We had a group of 7 divers, and we dove all our dives with Devin and Duncan. They were FANTASTIC! They are both enthusiastic divers, and it is obvious that diving is their passion! They pointed out some beautiful marine life and shared wonderful stories of their diving experiences. They were also very patient and helpful with our dive gear set up and break down. Devin, Duncan, and Captain Ray took our group on a day trip of 4 dives, and it will forever be remembered as one of my best dive days ever! My husband and I plan to return to Utila and will request Devin and Duncan every time!! :)

It’s been a successful week hosting our Diving & Self Mastery Retreat with UDC with so many stories to share, strangers who’ve become family, and mysteries that have become realities.

Personally I had a fantastic time (best dives of my life yet) with Sam diving Ted’s Point & Labyrinth. Not to mention Sam himself was super professional, personable, and passionate which rubbed off. I made sure to share my gratitude with him.

Aside from that we were so well taken care of by Duncan & Tom as well as they cared for us on multiple dives while Tom gave two of our guests a private Open Water course that they raved about.

Everyone there was great, and I always felt taken care of and supported to have an epic time with my friends.

Excellent Freediving with Lucas! I luckily met him in Roatan diving and training so it was nice to have such an amazing instructor to continue diving with in Utila. Airport caves were among my favorite with the swimthroughs, the plane was super cool for me also, visibility was great. Great person to dive with, knows where to go and what to explore, + some amazing diving photos of me also. Stoked, highly recommended.

Got my open water diving certificate at this school. Arash and Raphi were the instructors of my class, and they did an excellent job explaining dive theory to us in a clear way and guiding us through the practical course. With them I felt very safe and they made the classes both educational and fun. Especially when Arash showed his bubblemaster skills.

I am beyond impressed with UDC. My daughters (17 & 14) and I just completed the open dive cert and throughout the course, they were organized, professional, and fun! I was definitely the reluctant diver of the group, and our instructor Nat Schaffer showed great empathy and care, relocating the ocean- based course to a pool, so I could nail some of the trickier skills. In fact, my kids loved Nat so much they opted to do a 2nd class with her (the advanced open water )! Thx UDC & Nat for an amazing spring break & for sharing an amazing life skill with my family. Yay diving!

Finished my open water certification with Nat. She was super helpful all around from gear sizing to making sure everything on our dives went smoothly! Would highly recommend this company and instructor

I did the basic and the advanced freediving course with Lucas as a trainer at UDC and I loved it!

Lucas is an experienced freediver who brings his excitement and calmness to the course. He takes time to get to know the group, teach basics and safety measures. Once we got to open water freediving he guided us through all the steps and it was great fun as well as a welcomed challenge.

I went down to 27 meters and swam through an old shipwreck on just one breath of my own lungs, which was awesome. If someone would have told me that before the course, I would not have believed it.

What sets PADI certified freediving at UDC apart from others in my opinion is Lucas‘ way of teaching it. He goes a lot into stretching and meditation as means for relaxing the body and mind, which is crucial to holding your breath that long. Also he makes it fun and at times it became even a very meaningful journey, because ultimately you are just confronted with yourself in the depth.

So yeah, for anyone looking to get into freediving, looking to challenging themselves and just having a great time, I can truly and highly recommend these courses. The experience will stay with me for a long time!

I love UDC! I have come back 4 times and the instructors are always incredibly professional. The people here are genuinely kind and are excited to make every beginner passionate about scuba diving and ocean conservation. Arash & Jon were my instructors this time and were so incredible. I did my rescue with Arash and my Lionfish Containment with Jon. They were so caring and easy to talk to about diving questions. I ended up getting sea sick on one of the boats and Arash & Jon were on top of everything to make me feel as comfortable as possible during the boat ride.
Jordan, who works at the front desk, is always helpful and takes extra time to help you with scheduling. He is always going above and beyond like answering questions while out and about on the island when he isn't working. I know a lot of people who keep coming back to UDC because of how helpful Jordan is. His customer service is always 110% and if there is ever an issue, he solves it seamlessly. I cannot imagine UDC without him at the desk.
UDC makes safety the priority and has very high standards for their instructors. They always put your safety first.
I recommend UDC to literally everyone and will continue to come back here for a 5th, 6th, and 7th

Amazing experience with UDC. Completed Open Water Diving with Ronja and Bianca who were fantastic instructors. They have so much knowledge and made the classes and diving lots of fun. Enjoyed it so much that we’ve signed up for Advanced Course next week!

Arash offers a perfect balance of “serious and fun”. He’s a seasoned veteran and teacher extraordinaire. Raphi served as the Dive Master in Training. He was the focused Zen master who guided us with calm and wisdom. Thank you both!

I completed my PADI open water and advanced open water at UDC with Ruth and Duncan - it was fantastic and they were fantastic! They were both very professional, knowledgable, experienced and incredibly patient. I felt very safe during the course and had so much fun along the way. I would 100% recommend UDC and if you get any choice 1000% ask for Ruth and Duncan! Yay diving!

I was able to do my open water certification and had Anton as my instructor. Anton made learning easy and fun and with help from Mike and Frankie they did a great job making me feel comfortable and proficient throughout the course. They made it fun and safe and I learned a lot from them. I went on open water dives with Captain Ray, Devin, and Duncan. All of them did a good job setting up, planning, making sure things went smoothly, and most of all fun. I had a great time.
