Museum Pustaka Lontar Desa Wisata Dukuh Penaban

Beautiful experience! Pustaka Lontar are traditional books made out of palm leaves. They try to preserve the 300 year old Lontar and the tradition of making them. Every step of the process is shown and explained in the museum and then you can try to write your own Lontar. You can write your name and hang it to the names of other guests or you take it as a souvenir.
The museum is in a beautiful green area wirh traditional houses so it does not get to hot there.

Something slightly offbeat and not overrun with tourists. A definite must do if you are touring around east bali.

This Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in art, history & lontar for sure. Has a vast collection of lontar that is sure to please. The knowledgeable staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making it a great experience. There are plenty of interactive activities and educational opportunities available to visitors, making it a great place to spend some time. Highly recommended!

Had a lot of fun learning the history of Balinese manuscripts written on the dried palm-leaf here. We also experienced to create our own!

The museum is located in Karangasem, east Bali.

The staffs are very passionate and friendly. She patiently taught us to make our own manuscript and explained the history.

We also tried the local tea made from shallot.

We've got good impression on this museum which is run well by Dukuh Penaban privately. The green and clean environment strongly support the compound site of the museum. The friendly staffs describe and show us what lontar is and its usage. They are able to assist us in writing our names or words in Balinese on Palm-Leaf (lontar). Moreover, we can see some lontar collection and its transcription.

One of the most authentic experience in Bali. I learned how to write and engrave my name in Balinese. The place is peaceful. This place (and people volunteering) deserve more visibility!

It is a little hidden/off the beaten path, but worth the visit if you want to learn about Lontar writing and production process. The museum is donation based and still in the process of being built. The staff explains things in English and you even get to write your own name in Balinese script on a palm leaf.

This place is a unique place at the east of Bali. Quiet place and good to do yoga and trekking activity. Those who love photography this is the place where you can make a good concept and work together with the local people.

This is best place for get some useful knowledge about classic manuscript in Bali. There are also much spots to relaxing.

A place where the traditional manuscripts and cultural doccumentations are stored. As of now, the trust members are volunteering and reviveing the history.

The people really need help from the philantropists, NGO's and each and every citizens who love to see the Bali Culture & Traditions are well maintained and cherish it's Glory.

Museum Pustaka has lots of old age manuscripts written on Palm leaves and preserved. As of now, this museum being operated under temporary makeshift huts and sooner it need to be shifted unto pucca building.

This objective can only be made pragmatic with kind hearted, open minded citizens help
