Gorukana Auyrvedic Health Center

The place is run by an NGO helping the local tribal community and hence 90% of the staff are from local tribe. The food is simple yet amazing. The cultural activity/event is done only when there are more than 10 people where they danced and sing in their local attire explaining us their rituals. The cottages are well kept. The location is absolute bliss with lot of greenary, lake (ask for boat ride), birds chirping the whole day. FYI the booking amount includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner which is really great.

Wonderful stay in the resort. Excellent ayurvedic massage by Lakshmi. Tribal dance enthralled us in the evening. Food was fresh & wholesome.

Superb place. In the middle of a jungle. Awesome cottages. Superb treks. Very good tribal cultural program organized in the evening. Kids had a great time. Overall, it was a very good outing with family and friends.

Just in lap of nature, in mid of jungle, wake with chirping of birds. Very beautiful location, neat and clean rooms, homely food, very supportive staff. Cottages are carefully designed with rustic looks with modern amenities. This place is not much commercialized, so you can relax and enjoy peacefully. Close proximity of Ranganathaswamy Temple and KGudi safari. Krishna was very helpful and he accompanied us to visit temple and safari drive. Cottages are better options, we stayed one day in cottage and one day in Tent house. Tent house is a kind of aloof from cottages area, does not have wooden floor and no duplex like structure as available in cottage. One suggestion to make stair case in cottage to go upstairs more secure as it is mostly open from side. Spa place is located on the lake and good massage is provided. A must visit place. Near to bangalore. Will definitely come back soon.

Very pretty place: the massage center has private rooms in a floating cottage on the pond in the Gorukana resort.

Very pristine place. Good cabins, very friendly service. Extremely quiet on a week day. Food is basic but very tasty. Walking distance from the stunning Rangaswamy temple. Not much to do here but deeply relax.

The price is a bit high for what you get, because you support the local community via an NGO. Definitely a good thing to support. The local community The Soliga people have been successfully opposing to their deportation out of the natural reserve. It is now important that they can build on sustainable eco-tourism and see the value of protecting the natural habitat.

We had the entire property to ourselves as it was weekdays. Nice property, service is bit slow but the folks are very nice and kind. The massage was also good but book one day in advance. The safari is about 20 kms from this place.

Отличное красивое место для уединения с природой. Аюрведы в отеле практически нет. Только несколько видов массажа. Хорошая еда. Надо учитывать, что нет мобильной связи, интернета. Выключают электричество в 22.00. С тёплой водой в душе проблемы. Вкусная еда , кормят 3 раза в день. Сервис и обслуживание не самое высококлассное. Но для релакса на пару дней нормально. Очень красивое природное место, тишина вокруг. Можно встретить на территории обезьян, Семью диких кабанов. При наличии в отеле 10 и более человек вечером проводят местные жители шоу программу с танцами у костра.

Disheartening Experience at Gorukana - A Far Cry from Ayurvedic Wellness”

Our stay at Gorukana was deeply disheartening and fell far short of expectations. The management, particularly the lady in charge, displayed a level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that I have never encountered in my travels. Her confrontational attitude when we inquired about certain issues, combined with a complete lack of apology, reflected a dictatorial management style that is unacceptable in the hospitality industry.

To start, upon our arrival on a Friday when the resort was not busy, we were given no introduction or overview of Gorukana, its facilities, or the activities available. There was a complete lack of initiative to involve us in the advertised evening or morning walks, leaving us clueless and unengaged

The resort failed to provide basic amenities; for instance, we were not provided with enough blankets on our first night, leading to a great deal of discomfort. Worse still, there was no way to contact the staff for assistance later.

On top of these issues, when we checked out a mere 30 minutes past the standard time and requested an additional cup of tea, instead of compensating for their earlier mistakes, they had the audacity to charge us extra for the tea.

Additionally, the resort’s claim of being an Ayurvedic and wellness center is highly questionable. They serve non-vegetarian food, which is contrary to Ayurvedic principles. The lack of Ayurvedic or wellness activities was stark; the only remotely related feature was a small garden with minimal variety. There were no signs of any Ayurvedic masseurs or even a price list for such services.

Moreover, the resort seems to have a set of arbitrary rules not listed in their policy while neglecting the ones that are. Despite a stated policy against accommodating all-male groups, there were several such groups during our stay. This selective enforcement of rules adds to the confusion and frustration.

In conclusion, Gorukana not only falls short in providing basic hospitality services but also fails to live up to its claims of being an Ayurvedic wellness retreat. The management’s lack of regard for guest comfort, combined with the absence of promised amenities and services, makes this a place I cannot recommend to anyone seeking a genuine wellness experience.

I never had such a worst Experience in my life. The property doesn't even deserve a single star.

Pro's.
1. Staffs are not trained but they are kind.

Cons,

1. Don't fall for their fancy pics of property. It only looks good in Pics. Nothing good in real.
2. Overpriced by 3 times atleast!! I don't think it deserves more than 3k per night.
3. Strangely Basic toiletries won't be provided(not even brush n paste. After a long fight, we got two tooth brushes)
4. No water bottles will be provided. When asked for water they said, it's because of plastic. But water glass, Jug, cups provided in the room as well as in Restaurant are made of Plastic!!!
5. Food is very average. If you are non vegetarian, expect a cold kabab pieces. THATS ALL!
6. You will have MANY uninvited guests in the night for sure. Lots of bugs, mosquitos, Frogs, Lizards, Spider etc etc. They call it as, it's Bio-diversity in their room check list (photo added).
7. Sorry, No power-up. Power goes for every 15-20mins.
8. You will get 2 benches to keep your bags and stuff! Yes, you heard that right, no wardrobes nothing.
9. Uncleaned kettle and Plastic Jugs will be kept for drinking water.
10. Property is in mid of forest and no SAFETY for guests. On top of it, We realised at night that our balcony door doesn't even have a lock!!
11. IF YOU ARE OK WITH ALL ABOVE 10 POINTS, I'M SURE YOU WON'T TOLERATE THE OWNER LADY'S WORST ATTITUDE. SHE TALKS TO GUESTS AS IF SHE PROVIDES PROPERTY FOR FREE!!! SHE WILL CLOSE IT SOON UNLESS SHE BEND DOWN HER WORST ATTITUDE!!
