It is amazing ... A soulful place where you interact yourself with nature or God. The beauty of nature is fabulous ... No matter how much I say, less will be said about the place... There is something very special. I can't express it verbally. Go once and appreciate the wonderful view of nature...

Regarding the establishment of this Shivling of Baba Gajeshwar Nath Mahadev, it is believed that it was established by a demon named Gajasur who was the son of Mahishasura. Its description is also found in Shiva Purana. It is said that Gajasur did the penance of Lord Shiva here for thousands of years by standing on the thumb and then got that boon. After this he became a tyrant. Then Lord Shankar killed him on the call of the sages, but while dying, he got a boon that this Shivling established by you will now be known by your name only. Here it is said about the feet of Nandi that when Lord Shankar killed Gajasura riding on Nandi, Nandi stood on two feet and his footprints fell on the rock.

Along with this, it is also believed that Arjuna got the darshan of Lord Shankar on this Devana mountain during Mahabharata period. It is said that in the 16th century King Mansingh worshiped in this temple and since then people started coming here. The tribals here have a lot of faith in this temple and they named this temple as ‘Shivgadi’ which means ‘the house of Shiva’.

This Temple is located on barhait road, sahibganj, Jharkhand, India.
This temple is magnificent and has a natural view, if anyone comes here by train the nearest Railway Station is Barharwa Junction, from the station you can take auto for the Temple.

Shivgadi, about 30 km from Barharwa town in Jharkhand via Barhaich town, is a very important Shiva shrine. The shrine is not man-made, but a huge cave in the mountains. A motorable road goes up to the base of the mountains. At the base of the mountain, there are few shops and guest houses (Dharamshala).
From here, a long flight of 190 steps go up to the cave.
There is a beautiful gate at the start, decorated with idols of gods and a huge snake. Once you start to climb the stairs, don't forget to enjoy the natural beauty all around. The mountains are covered with trees, and depending on the season, you can see Shimul and other flowers bloom in thousands.
Once at the top of the flight, you are at the entrance to a huge cave. There are gates to enter the cave. From the top of the mountain directly above the cave, a fountain cascades down. During monsoon, the flow of water increases, and the pilgrims get a natural shower while entering the cave.
Inside the cave, which has an average height of about 6 feet, there are several spots where Shivalingams and idols of Ganesha and Parvati are placed.
But the main attraction is the Swayambhu (self-manifest) Shivalingam of the Lord. Shiva is known here as "Gajeshwara" Shiva, as here Shiva killed the Elephant demon Gajasura.
There are no disturbing Panda-s (priests) here, unless you invite one to perform the rituals.
So, you can have your chance to perform the rituals all by yourself, which is deeply satisfying.
There is an additional point of interest. From the cave (which is at the mid level of the mountains), you can climb another flight of stairs (360 steps this time) to reach the top of the mountain where there is a big rock with two depressed areas which are said to be created by the hoofs of Nandi the Bull, the Vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva. The climb is a bit tough, but if you can go up, you will be blessed by the serene beauty of the surrounding area.
As a whole, a visit to Shivgadi is a worthy one, both for the devotees as well as the less religious.

The temple of Lord Shiva is like a miracle in itself, where Jalabhishek is done naturally inside the cave on the Shivalinga. On top of this, the pretext of waterfall also creates a very beautiful view. Reaching here by climbing a little higher gives a feeling of relief. Mountains full of natural beauty all around please the mind and this is a very picturesque place worth visiting near Bhagalpur, Sahibganj, Godda and Dumka. Devotees of Lord Shiva come here from far and wide to offer prayers.

The temple of lord Shiva in the foothills of the mountain, waterfall at the entry gate and the view around it is mesmerizing. You have to climb a few stairs to reach the temple where you will get a soothing aura and you feel connected with nature so closely. Visit it once and you will be fond of the place. Really admiring the work of nature, the carved mountain and the waterfall is just awesome.

Shivgadi is the temple of Lord Shiva located inside a cave and is the most calm and serene place. Must visit if you are in that area. There is a local mela of 2-3 days during Shivratri. It is even more beautiful and full of devotees during the holy month of Sawan or Shravan.
