Pristine, calm, serene, picturesque...it's Gulmarg minus the urbanization. Perfect place for camping and exploring the wilderness. Many streams criss crossing the valley offers beautiful sites and picnic spots. Dhoks with high mountains in the background adds on to the beauty.
Carry your own meals/snacks because the walks are long and shops are limited.
Two axes lead to this beautiful place, the one through baramulla is much shorter and another through kupwara. Take the kupwara route and combine teethwal(tangdhar) and keran.

Bungus Valley, located in the Kashmir region of India, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, encompassing lush green meadows, crystal-clear streams, and breathtaking mountain vistas. Visitors often praise its tranquility and the opportunity it provides for trekking and camping amidst unspoiled surroundings. However, accessibility can be a challenge, as reaching the valley involves navigating rugged terrain and limited infrastructure. Overall, it's a paradise for nature lovers seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure.

Note: You will enjoy more with your own vehicle. Public transport is zero. Shared taxies available from Kupwara town but for main locations and on specific time.

There is no Bike/Scooty rent option in Kupwara.

Distance - Around 80km from Kupwara Citi. Approx 170km from Srinagar.

Route:
Kralpora (15km ahead of Kupwara) is the common point for Keran and Tithwal/Bangus Valley.

Moving towards Tithwal side. The road is smooth with beautiful views passing through Drangyari and Chowkibal and reaching to a place TeePee from there again two routes.

One for Tithwal and another for Bangus Valley.

Route:
Chowkibal - TeePee - Bangus Valley.
After TeePee, one road goes toward Tithwal and another to Bangus Valley.

Enroute:
Again a beautiful and serene route with many Bakarwal's seasonal habitats.

Stay:
Either Stay in Chowkibal or Do camping in Bangus Valley. However there are no any organised camping site in Bangus Valley so you need your own camping gears.

Permit:
Permit is required to reach chowkibal. After that, from TeePee, no specific permit is required to go for Bangus.

Famous For:
The endless beautiful Meadows. Bangus is so huge that it can not be covered in one day. It is divided in 2 parts: Chhota Bangus and Bada Bangus. Even Chhota Bangus is so big.

Avoid Weekends:
Most of the Kashmiri tourists visit on weekends for camping. There are heavy security checks and will take a long time. If possible then travel on weekdays to avoid rush.

Food:
There is no food option available there. You need to carry your own food.

Network:

Only Jio works and that too may fail in some parts.

PS: Since these places are fairly new to explore so tourist facilities are very minimal but the beauty of place and hospitality of local people are enough reason to visit there.

Bungus Valley is a hidden gem tucked away in the mesmerizing region of district kupwara. It offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The road towards bungus through Mawer greets you by picturesque vistas of snow-capped peaks, and crystal-clear streams. Though the condition of road is very bad for about 3-5 km's and camping without prior permission might get you in trouble. For camping you also get option of "bungus hollidays" who provide you the best camping experience and very hospitable environment. When visiting bungus make sure to carry rain gear

Well, anyone planning to visit Bangus has some idea about where they are venturing. And if your idea of Bangus from the popular photos on soci media is of a green vale, then i present you a white Bangus. I and my friends were there in April and we had to trek from a few kilometres away from Reshwari JKTDC through the meadow because the main road was under feet of snow. With not a soul around it was heaven. Have a glimpse :-)
