Thrikkur Mahadeva Temple is an ancient cave temple believed to have been established by the fire god. This temple is located at Thrikkur in Mukundapuram taluk of Thrissur district. It is also believed to be one of the 108 Shiva temples believed to have been established by Parasurama , even though it is believed to have been consecrated by the god Agni. The temple is situated on a 150 feet high rock on the banks of the Manalipusha, about ten kilometers southeast of Thrissur city. It is one of the most famous cave temples in Kerala.
Historians say that this temple was originally a Jain temple and was later Hinduized. In this temple, Shiva in the form of fire resides facing east, but the sanctum sanctorum is facing north. This is the specialty of this temple. Along with Lord Shiva, there is an image of Parvati in the temple shrine. In addition, the temple also has deities as sub-deities Ganapati, Shasta, Varahamurthy (in Salagrama form), Bhadrakali, Durga, Chamundi, Final Hakala, Saptamatris and Naga deities.
The main annual events of the temple are the eight-day festival that concludes with an Aarat at Manalipuzhha on Thiruvathiranal in Makara month, Shivaratri in Kumbh month, Thiruvathira in Danumonth, Kalabhabhishekam on Thiruvathiranal in Libra month and Navratri in Kannima month. This temple is owned by Paliath family members who were the Prime Ministers of Kochi.

Thrikkur Mahadeva Temple is a rock-cut cave temple in Thrissur. It's a very old temple. Temple location was full of greenery and peaceful. The left side of Mahadeva Temple, rock was in shape like Lord Ganapathi and side by side four elephants. It was beautiful.

My childhood temple of lord shiva which is located on a hill top . Neat and cleanly maintained, Ull need to clim the stair or Ull can take the bike and car up the hill too as the temple is located on a hill top .

Ancient cave temple (Guha kshethram) dedicated to lord Shiva. Though it seems to be dedicated to Parshwanatha and Padmavati, now consecrated as Shiva, Vishnu and Bhagawati. A neatly maintained temple with strict acharams, People with asthmatic and breathing problems pledge to submit a bunch of rope (kayar). And do so after curing of the disease. Very positive vibes.

Very nice temple, very cool and calm atmosphere, good oxigen level. Definitely want to visit again, just 9km from Trissur

The temple is locates on Thrikkur. Which is 12 KM from thrissur city (a minimum bus fare of 13 rupees). 5 KM from amballur highway. Temple build on a big rock. From the top of the rock, we can see almost 40& of thrissur.

We had a great night darshan at this temple. It was closing time, hence could not explore the surroundings much. Will be going again for a morning darshan.
