The loftiest peak of Kapilas range enshrines the temple of Lord Shiva, i.e. Chandrasekhar, at a height of about 457 meters. The place is identified with Kailash, the legendary abode of Lord Shiva. A flight of 1,351 steps and a ghat road leads to the temple. Thousands of devout souls throng to Kapilas on Mahasivaratri, the night consecrated to Lord Shiva.
Shivratri, the grand night of Shiva is celebrated not only here but all around by the devotees.
The chants of Shiva mantras and bhajans brings in an aura like no other day.

One of the oldest temple in the Bhubaneswar city. Architecture wise,its beautiful.The Shiva linga breath in and out.The priests are trying to grab you make pooja and trying to get money. Apart from that place is nice to visit and its make you feel peace. Visit and worship and feel the inner peace

(Visited in October 2023) - Kapileswara temple of Bhubaneswar's old town area is a Saiva temple associated with Sage Kapila, who propounded Sankhya school of Hindu philosophy. It is also associated with Kapilendra Gajapati Rautraya (c.15th Century CE), founder, first and greatest emperor of Suryavansha Gajapati dynasty.

Uniqueness is what I find in every temple. A quiet calm and serene location for the lord of the universe-lord shiva. The uniqueness is the lingam. It's hollow. Inquire about he uniquqness to the priests and get blown away. Felt a different vibe in the old town of Bhubaneswar. Not so far away from Lingaraja temple. Do visit if you have some time to spare. The temple pond is also an another attraction much similar to some temples in kerla as one of the entrance opens to it. The traditional Kalinga architecture is depicted.

Beautiful temple. Priests at the temple say that it is Older than Puri Jagannath temple and Bhubaneshwar’s Lingaraj temple. Some statues actually look very old! The pond is full of fish swimming at the surface!

So many goddess worship in this temple...it is so many old temple....lord shiv worship in this temple.. It is clean and crowded place...beautiful place in peace

The most Scenic and Lively Deity I have ever seen. Here the devotees from different places come to fulfill their wishes. People offer Betel 🌰🌰 nuts as 'Manasika' or as a 'Kalpa ' and withdraw it when their wishes get fulfilled

Kapileswar temple is the one of the oldest and best temple in Bhubaneswar to visit. The atmosphere of the temple is very peaceful. Once you visit the place you will always visit the place.

Very serene. Authenticity still protected. Though shabbily maintained. But a worthwhile visit with very humble people around the temple and an a devoted priest and a living Lord Shiva.
