This mandir is just in peace & dwelling with positive vibes.

As old as time, this mandir offers sacred divine grace of Mahadev.

The architecture is so juggling, yet very Dravidian.

It will take minimum 8 minutes to walk near the main sanctum.

One of the best kept secrets of this world.

This temple doesn’t have a gopuram at its entrance and thus the name “mottai gopuram”. The preceding deity is Lord Shiva and the temple is more associated with those born in Kumbha Rasi.

It was a Devine feeling after having the Darshanam of Lord Shiva worshipped as Adi Kumbeswar, This 7th century temple has great huge stone pillared Mandapams, Garbha griha and a magnificent main tower.

The main tower can’t be seen closely from near due to occupation on both sides by lengthy corridors.

Great feel after having the darshan.
Must visit place for Hindus.

This temple is in Kumbakonam. An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The architecture is outstanding. It's quite a big temple. You have space for car parking. There is a big elephant inside the temple. Mostly, the elephant is available during the morning hours. Lord Shiva is "Adi Kumbeshwarar" and Parvati/ Ambal is "Mangalambikai".

One of the must visit temples in Kumbakonam, it is located centrally in the town amidst a large complex. It has a resident elephant which blesses devotees, and the sanctum with the large Shivalingam is majestic and resplendent. It is definitely worth visiting if you are in Thanjavur or Tiruchirappalli.

(Visited in September 2023) - Adi Kumbheswarar temple of Kumbhakonam is the primary Saiva shrine of the temple City. It is associated with the legend of Lord Shiva as Adi Kumbheswara, and the large temple is a blissful place.

Phenomenal Lingam Shiva temple is beautiful. Elephant welcomes you !. The narrow lane to the temple has shops to indulge in buying traditional items.

No gopuram on the southern and northern entrance. Temple office is situated at this entrance side. One can view the elephant blessing the devotees from this entrance.

Shri Adi Kumbeswarar temple, situated in the centre of Kumbakonam is the grand Shiva temple with a majestic east Gopuram. On the left side of main sanctum is Shri Mangalambigai Amman temple. Had darshan during the divine mangala arathi in the evening. Apparently the town derives its name from the presiding deity. Car parking available on the northern side of temple.

My recent pilgrimage to the Athi Kumbeshwara Temple in Kumbakonam left me captivated by its spiritual ambiance and architectural splendor. Nestled in the heart of the town, this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva stands as a testimony to the Chola dynasty's architectural prowess.

The moment I stepped onto the temple grounds, I was greeted by the towering gopuram, adorned with intricate sculptures and vibrant colors. The sanctity of the place, coupled with the divine energy, created a sense of tranquility that stayed with me throughout the visit.

The main sanctum, housing the Lingam of Lord Kumbeshwara, emanated a palpable spiritual energy. The rituals and prayers conducted with utmost devotion added to the sacred atmosphere, making it a truly immersive experience.

The unique feature of the Athi Kumbeshwara Temple is the sacred tank, Mahamaham tank, located nearby. The temple's connection to this tank and the Mahamaham festival, held once in twelve years, adds a special significance to the pilgrimage experience.

The architectural marvels within the temple, such as the intricate carvings and the well-preserved sculptures, showcased the artistic brilliance of the Chola era. The temple staff's commitment to maintaining the premises and preserving its historical and religious significance is commendable.

Visiting the Athi Kumbeshwara Temple provided me with not only a spiritual rejuvenation but also a deep appreciation for the cultural and historical richness embedded in its architecture and traditions. It stands as a sacred haven for those seeking a profound connection with the divine in the heart of Tamil Nadu.

A historical well maintained and centrally located. Easily reachable by all modes of transport. Local autos are expensive. Parking around the temple for 4 wheelersbis a issue. A must visit for all hindus. Temple has a long history of its existence. The elephant at the main entrance is 35 years old. Children love to have its blessings. Good vegetarian restaurants, shopping shops are very near.

Temple has such a nice history to it but the temple priests are too adamant. The reason for 5 stars is I have complained to the temple office and after 2 months I got a call from them taking action on the priest. That was something I didn't expect.
