Ayyanthole Sree Karthyayani Temple

It's one amongst the 108 Durga Devi temples spread across Kerala. One look at the deity's face and a breeze of calmness engulfs you. Parking is a bit of a problem and you may have to park in the narrow roads.

Ayyanthol Shree Karthayanee Devi Temple is a deity temple located in Ayyanthol land within Thrissur city limits. It is one of the 108 Durga temples believed to have been established by the Vaishnava deity Parashurama. Goddess Kartyayani is the deity. The deity here is made of Anjana stone like in Kumaranallur. The standing idol has four arms. Conch, Chakra and Padmas are in Goddess's hands. Facing East. It is coated with Panchaloham. On the eastern side of the darshan there is a small footbridge and a tower. Ganesha is the only deity. It is believed that Chembukau Karthayani Bhagwati is the younger sister of this goddess. It is said that this is where the flying goddess landed when Kamsa was about to hit the stone by grabbing his leg, thinking it was Krishna. It is said that the goddess took flight when she reached Kamsa's shoulder. So then Kamsa said 'Oh my shoulder!' It is said that he cried out and that is what Cut it short Ayyantola later did.

Its the temple of goddess.. Its in ayyanthole ground.. From there you have to take a right and travel to one kilometre towards pukkunnam road. The festival of this temple is amazing where both sides of the road are filled with lantern and the festival name us called Karthika villaku

Located further down Udaya nagar, 2 Kms from Ayyanthole, Punkunnam and district collectiorate, Karthyayani temple is famous in this locality. The devi temple is famous for its powerful deity and the many pujas that ae held through the year. Visit at leisure and spend ssome quality time.
parking is a challenge, but there is space on the main road, nearby. It could get difficult if there is a big rush.

Sree Karthyayani Temple is located in the vicinity of Ayyanthole Civil Lines, the nerve center of district administration, which is about 4 KMs North West of famous Vadakkumnathan Temple. Sree Karthyayani Mahamaya, the deity of this temple presides over with all prowess, strength and prosperity making the people of the area feel her presence day in and day out.According to a writing found on the rafter of its roof, it is more than 600 years old. The Pancha Loha covering now available in the Sree Kovil was made in the Malayalam year 907 according to some records kept in the house of Padinhattedath Cherampatta Namboothirippad.important festival of this temple is Thrikkarthika during Vruschikam (Nov/Dec). it is a festival of lights lasting for seven days with regular stage programs in the night besides Murajapam and Rigveda Sooktharchana are also regularly held during those days. Lakshadeepam (lighting of lakhs of oil lamps) is a spectacular divine show. During these days around three lakhs people will visit the temple.

Prathishta (Birthday), the day is also celebrated with pomp and show on the day of Chothi (star) in the month of Midhunam (jun/July) every year. Bhagavatha Sapthaham (reading and explanation of the contents of Bhagavatham over a period of seven days with a definite time schedule by a scholor), Prasada Oottu (free lunch) are unforgettable feat and food for the body and the mind. Laksharchana in the month of karkkidakam, Navarathri celebrations in the month of Kanni, Makam Thozhal and Sivarathri celebration in Kumbam are other important functions here

Its a nice temple with a pond behind it, nicely maintained, easily noticable from traffic, land mark for nearby areas, bus is there every 20 min from in front, 1km away from ayyathole ground, auto rickshaw stand infront, a store also is there infront of it, Godess Kartheyayeni Bhagavathy inside the temple with lord ganapathy as minor diety

I was not able to go inside the Temple as I reached there late. I was attending a function in the adjacent Auditorium. Good auditorium. Parking space is also available.
