Koorkenchery Mahadeva Temple is one of the main Temple and pilgrim centre in Thrissur District , the cultural capital of Kerala. The temple situates just 3 kilometers away from Swaraj Round, the heart of the town. (In Shoranur - Kodungallur Road). The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, which was consecrated by Sree Narayana Guru in the year of 1916. (The actual date is 28th Chingam, 1092 according to Malayalam calendar.). The inspiration to build up the temple and consecration behind Sree Narayana Guru was Swamy Bodhananda.Sree Narayana Bhaktha Paripalana Yogam (SNBP) was founded and organised by Swamy Bodhananda in the year of 1913. Besides Shivarathri the main festival of the temple is Thaipooyam Mahotsavam, a seven day long festival dedicated to Lord Subramanian. The temple runs one of the leading library named Sree Narayana Library and Reading Room in front of the temple. The temple has good parking facilities. Koorkenchery Mahadeva Temple is surrounded by Kanimangalam, Chiyyaram, Vadookkara and Kannamkulangara Desoms. Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi and Bodhananda Jayanthi celebrating every year in the temple with various programs. The nearest bus station is Thrissur. Nearest Railway Station is Thrissur and Nearest Airport is Kochi.(40 kilometers).

We can hear the rythm of chenda(kerala drum), Elephants,Lights.

The temple is situated a little bit distance from the main road, but the view from main road in the evening is beautiful.

Sree Maheswara temple is located at Sreenarayanapuram near Koorkenchery in Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva and the Shivling here was consecrated by Sri Narayana Guru on September 12, 1916 (Kollavarsham 1092 Chingam 28).

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Subramania, Sri Krishna, Nagaraja, Ayyappa and Goddess Parvati.

Mahashivratri is of great importance here. Special pujas are held on Mondays. Pradosham day in a fortnight is of great significance.

Monthly Sashti fasting is observed here. Mandala Kalam in Vrischikam Dhanu masam of significance in the shrine.

Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chingam month is another important festival. Navratri is also observed in the temple.

Thaipooyam festival in Kumbham month, a seven-day festival dedicated to Subramanya, is the main annual festival of the temple.

Well spaced 5 halls are available to marriage function. It is a nice place to new life begins. Lot of spaces are available surrounding the temple and hall. It may useful to parking during different functions.

It's a nice temple. The koorkanjeri pooram here is so famous and popular among the people. It's a large festival of this place which occurs annually. I just love the place.
