Jai mata de. Maa ka apaar pyaar sab par bane rahe. Today visited the sacred place in jammu. Somethings everyone should note. 1. If you want to avoid huge crowds then don’t visit on Tuesday & Sunday. 2. There is not ample parking available though authorities trying to get new places. 3. Avoid taking cell phones as you to leave mobiles at shoe place or at any shop or in your car.

Its a very nice temple inside the Bahu fort. A must visit temple if you are going to Jammu.
This temple is of Supreme Godess Mahakaali also called as Bawe Wali Mata.
The temple is situated inside the Bahu fort constructed by Raja Bhau. And photography is restricted inside the temple. You have to submit the mobile phone, cameras and shoes in the counter outside the temple.
Besides Kaali maa, there are Ganesh Ji and Hanuman Ji idols also. The idol of Kaali maa is black stone covered with a silver top.
Timing for the temple is from 6.00AM to 8.00PM. And there is some closing time from 1.00PM to 2.00PM also.
The temple atmosphere is very calm and refreshing. Jammu trip is incomplete without this temple.

There are lot of small shops which sells Prasad amd refreshments for the devotees. You can get some fancy items and gift items like marble made Shiv Lingas and other idols in the shops.
You can get direct bus from Jammu / Vikram Chowk to the temple.
Beware of monkeys arround there and don't try to feed them. Also, be careful while using mobile phones or something outside as there are lot of monkeys.
Jai Mata Di..!

The temple is dedicated to Maa Kali and is situated at the banks of the tawi river inside Bahu fort. There is ample parking space available but during navratri there can be a challenge of parking availability. The place has a historical significance and the local people believe in maa kali is very deep. There is a huge market and Prasad shops are available on the way to the holy temple. People should be aware of belonging especially the eatables as lots of monkeys can be found.

The Mahakali temple famous as Bawe Wali Mata Temple has been built on a elevated platform and houses a black stone coloured idol of the Goddess Mahakali. Kali Mata Mandir is built within the premises of Bahu Fort, which overlooks the mighty Tawi River. The surrounding forest area has been converted into a beautiful park known as the “Bagh-e-Bahu”. Influenced by the Mughal gardens, the park provides a fantastic view of Jammu city. A newly constructed aquarium is also an added tourist attraction. The fort was built by Raja Bahulochan around 3000 years ago.

The temple is considered to be second only to the Mata Vaishnodevi temple. A number of devotees make a beeline to Jammu each year to soak in the spiritual aura of the region. Built using white marble on a raised platform about 3.9 feet high, this temple has an idol of goddess Maha Kali in black stone. This is a small temple from within so only a few devotees can enter at time.

What ever is your wish it is full fill here The temple is considered to be second only to the Mata Vaishnodevi temple. Animal sacrifice was widely practiced in the past, but nowadays temple priest perform a few rituals and sprinkles holy water over a sheep or goat before setting it free as a symbolic rendition of the sacrifice. This ritual is known as Shilly Charana. Devotees offer a sweet pudding known as Kadah to the goddess after their wishes have been fulfilled by her.
Everyday at dawn many local girls visit the temple. They are worshipped by the pilgrims and devotees as Kanjaks and offer them money, bangles, sweets and pieces of clothing known as chunnis. The people of Jammu have a staunch belief that goddess Kali who resides in this temple protects Jammu from Pakistani air attacks.
The temple premises are home to a big group of Rhesus monkeys, supposed to be the largest group in Jammu and Kashmir state. Cameras, sunglasses, food, hats should be kept away from their sight as they are notorious for snatching away such things from visitors.
