Truly exceptional place. Idyllic private island in the lake. Superb quality cottages. Excellent food. Anu is a wonderful host, happy to share her family history and the trials and tribulations of this organic smallholding. All food is prepared by her mother-in-law. If you have the chance do grab the opportunity to stay here.

My wife & I stayed here 31st Dec 2023 through 3rd Jan 2024 (3 nights)... It should have been 4 or 5 nights...
In short, whatever your troubles, or life turbulence you're being subject to, this paradise will fix you. The family team running the show, the food, the facility are inexplicably caring, divine and peaceful...
One recommendation: Definitely do the morning bird boat ride... sure, there are the birds, but one also gets a good sense of what makes Vembanad lake tick...
One of our best holiday experiences EVER!

We enjoyed a wonderful two days at this beautiful place with excellent food and service, not wanting for anything. Left feeling relaxed and refreshed and if we return to India will go back.

Staying with Anu and Mammi was a privilege. Going across the lake to the cottages was a revelation in itself. We were in time for lunch and to say the cooking was amazing would be an understatement and would not do the family justice. We had a different meal every day. We were treated to 3 home cooked meal a day and if we had stayed any longer than our 3 nights I would be extremely heavier due to the fact that if we finished one dish Mammi or Anu would top up the dishes leaving us very full. With breakfast at 8:30am, lunch at 1pm and dinner at 7:30pm, we pretty much slept and eat . We had to leave at least one piece of fish/meat on the serving plates to stop them from doing this. The sunset trip every evening was superb and every night was different. We also had the honour of meeting Anu’s children. On our first night we joined 2 couples and had the island to ourselves for two nights. The family were welcoming without evading or personal space and joined us every night to have a chat. You can book a cooking session with Anu and so other small activities whilst on the island. We got up early one morning to take a trip along the canal and saw lots of birds and people living in the backwaters. If you want to relax, have home cooked meals and get some balance after hectic traveling across Keralathis home stay would be perfect for you. Thank you Any and Mammi

If you are wondering about staying at Philipkutty’s Farm, the answer is you must! It is a gorgeous magical place. Their owners Anu and Mammi (mother in law) do an amazing job at running this property.
The rooms and the entire farm is beautiful, well kept, spotless.
The sheets, the rooms, the dining are and every single part is welcoming and even their aromas are great. The home cooked meals were amazing with locally sourced ingredients. You will get plenty of food and all your needs will be taken care of. If there is one place that I will like to visit back after my trip to India, it is definitely this place in Kerala.

Philipkutty's Farm was amazing! We received a warm and hospitable greeting from the family upon arrival. The meals that were prepared daily we're outstanding and showcase the local cuisine including fresh fish caught in the nearby lake. You will not regret staying at this quiet and beautiful homestead. We booked a cooking class, walked the grounds in the morning, took a sunset cruise during the evenings on the lake. The family has wonderful stories about the island on which the farm is located. Overall amazing experience and we definitely will visit again

Philipkutty's Farm was exceptional! From the greeting from the family upon arrival to the meals that were prepared daily, everything was wonderful! You will not regret staying at this quiet and beautiful homestead. We booked a cooking class and it was delicious! We walked the grounds in the morning, took a ride during the evenings on the lake, and got the opportunity to rest. Such a wonderful experience and I am so thankful to the family for hosting us and sharing their beautiful land with us.

We stayed two nights at Philipkutty’s Farm and were so pleased to have experienced this magical place.

Anu was a very friendly and welcoming host, and couldn’t have been more helpful throughout our stay. We loved how peaceful it was on the island (aside from the odd enormous houseboat going past - not Anu’s fault by any means). We couldn’t fault the accommodation - beautifully furnished and the best bathroom of the holiday.

We enjoyed the communal meals and met lots of interesting people - not a negative, but we did bring the average age of the group down by a good thirty/forty years - we’re 30!

The food is all homemade by Anu’s family - each meal is a wonderful spread although we did wonder whether it had been dialled down slightly to accommodate for a western palette? Not quite as flavourful as some of the other considerably cheaper meals we experienced on our trip. That would be our only slight criticism given everything else met such high standards.

We loved walking around, learning more about the farm and how Anu + team have adapted following the terrible 2018 floods. Be sure not to miss the complimentary sunset boat trips in a traditional non-motorised boat - despite the current influx of water hyacinth, the team did an amazing job at getting us around. (Maybe read up on the water hyacinths if you’re going soon - sadly quite a problem).

All in all, a real treat and a memorable few days in the backwaters.

The most amazing place in Kerala!
We loved our 2 nights with Anu and Ani. They are the most welcoming hosts, as are all of the staff. You are met by a kayak to be taken over the water to the serenity of the island. The rooms and food are exquisite, and the location is so peaceful. Highly recommend.

I recently stayed at Phillipkutty's Farm, and the food was absolutely delicious and the family were wonderful. The homemade meals were a real highlight of our stay, with each dish being cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The family were also incredibly hospitable, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. They were always eager to chat and offer recommendations for things to do in the area; cooking class, sunset cruises, badminton, canoeing or simply relaxing on the veranda.

Overall, our experience at this homestay was truly delightful and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nourishing and comfortable place to stay.

It was mind boggling to be in the lap of luxury in nature’s best and scenic resorts. The hospitality was mesmerizingly world class and so were the cottages with great hygiene. The staff were more of a family and cuisine was simply superb. The owners are a dedicated, passionate and unrelenting in their efforts to satisfy their customers.

One of our best stays anywhere. Perfect place to unwind and relax. The cottages are beautifully appointed with lots of room and serene surroundings. All of them are on the water front and you get some pretty views where ever you look. Our favourite pass time was to put some chairs out and just watch all the boats pass by. We also absolutely loved all the wonderful home cooked food that was served. Very highly recommend the place.

Philipkutty's farm is a stunning place to stay run by an incredible family. The cottages are beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. The most relaxing place I have stayed, watching the boats glide through the lily pads from your cottage.

This really does feel like a home stay - such a friendly and helpful family and staff. Rooms spacious and well equipped with traditional beautiful furniture. The food is simply stunning, the best that Kerala can offer. Cookery lessons very helpful - now I can recreate at least 3 of Anu and Mummy's dishes at home. We particularly enjoyed a farm tour, a 2 hour birdwatching trip by small boat with v knowledgeable boatman and a sunset cruise. Small negative is slow wifi, but hey we were on holiday!

What a gem! You are met at a landing area by a traditional fishing boat and transported across the backwater to an island of peace and harmony. Then you are warmly greeted by Anu and Aniamma ( who cooks all of the beautiful food).
Our room was beautiful and spacious with authentic Indian furniture and enormous bathroom. All spotlessly clean. There are midges rather than mosquito around from 5pm to 7am but cover up and wear protection ( unfortunately they get me despite all precautions !) .
Fresh drinking water was provided ( love the initiative to reduce plastic bottle use) The breakfast and evening meals were plentiful and fresh and prepared sing their own farm produce. Meals are served at a large round table with other guests and a lazy susan in the centre. No alcohol is served but you can take your own .
The grounds of the homestay are pristine and Anu will offer to show you around her farm. You are also treated to a sunset cruise in the fishing boat which was serene.
There is an abundance of wildlife on the island including otters and numerous birds including kingfisher and eagles.
I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

enjoyed our stay at Philipkutty's Farm in December. Our cottage was spacious and comfortable with a very nice bathroom with two sinks. There was a pleasant sitting area. We could sit outside and watch the houseboats go by. Food was very good with tasty vegetarian selections. One of the guests had special dietary restrictions and servings were adapted for her.
One morning we went on a boat with a birdwatching guide and were very pleased with the many birds we saw.
We were ferried from the Island to take a walk through the village to the charming local church which had been established in the 15th century.
On our tour of the farm we saw the vechur cow, a very small cow, that produces lots of milk for the food it requires.
We enjoyed talking with Anu and her mother-in law, who is responsible for the kitchen, and would enthusiastically recommend Philipkutty's Farm for a stay in the Kerala Backwaters.

Beautiful setting and accommodation. Eating together with the other guests was lovely and the food was superb. Only downside, we were only there for a single night.
