Kol Kandoli Temple

For the pilgrims going to the Vaishnodevi darshan...the darshan starts from here. It is the starting point of the Vaishnodevi darshan yatra. Nowadays as the katra railway station is working so mostly pilgrims reach directly to katra hence unable to know about it as it is in between on the route from jammu to Katra. It is situated in Nagrota(nearby jammu known known for the army cantonment).

Maa Vaishno Devi first appeared here at the age of a five years old girl.

About this temple: Kol Kandoli Temple is located in Nagrota city in J&K. This temple is dedicated to Mata Shri Vaishno Devi.
It is believed to be good to visit this temple before starting the journey for Mata Vaishno Devi.
According to mythology, Mata Vaishno appeared here at the age of 5 years in the form of a little girl and did penance here for 12 years. After the penance, she settled here in the form of a pindi.

This is the first darshan for Mata vaishno Devi visit. It falls under army cantt. It's less crowded and also takes less time to have darshan. Darshan of old Shani idol and shivling is must have. You can also have langar food inside and drink water from very old well located inside Mandir.

It's a nice little temple which is also associated with Pandavs 5000 years ago. It is believed to be the first site you should visit while on your vaishno devi yatra. There's a tree in it's courtyard under which young vaishno devi meditate. This tree also has a swing hanging from it which is believed belongs to vaishno Mata.

This is a pious place at Nagrota near Katra. It is believed that the Goddess used to play during her childhood in a swing and thus jhulas are placed in the premises of the temple. A very sacred place, very clean. You can also visit a couple of other temples located in the premises of the temple. There is a tree where people place jhulas. Overall a calm, peaceful and serene environment. Photography of certain parts of the temple is not allowed.

The Kol Kandoli Temple Jammu is a serene and spiritually significant place of worship. Perched on a hill, it offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. The temple's devotion to Goddess Mahakali draws many pilgrims, especially during Navratri. The peaceful ambiance and scenic beauty make it a must-visit for both religious and nature enthusiasts.

I will say, everyone should visit this temple whenever they plan for their visit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Katra. In this temple, Mata Ji played leela's in her bal-roop and the temple is built by Pandavas in their Vanvas time. Bolo Jai Mata Di!

One of kind temple with beautiful shrine and artwork done on the temple is beautiful. Same can also be seen on the Entrance Gates made of Silver.

This is believed to be the Initial point where Mata Vaishno Devi had stopped.

People across India do visit this temple first and then plan their way ahead to Katra Vaishno Devi. Many langars can also be seen here and people also come here for wishes, which they ask by tieing Chunri on the wall behind mandir.

Kaul Kandoli was en-route during our sightseeing to Jammu. An old temple of Goddess Kali along with several other temples of Shani Dev, Shiva, Lord Krishna, and Nine forms of Goddess Shakti.
It was a wonderful experience at this place.

Most of us don't know that this is the place where Mata Vaishno Devi appeared for the first time on earth at the age of 5 years. This rock cut temple was later built by Pandavas along with a centuries old well which supplies blessed water.

I visited here along with my son on 26-04-2022 and 28-04-2022.
I enjoyed a lot here!

I went kol kandoli mata temple with my family. It was an ossom trip.We all were fortunate that we were able to visit this ancient temple.

Amazing and very beautiful hindu temple a must place to visit as its believed maa durga used to play here as a kid and used to live here for a very long time thats why it is a sacred place for hindus

This is the first darshan in Jammu before starting vaishno Devi yatra.It has stories of Mata vaishno Devi staying here as a 12 year child, playing with people and having chappan bhog with people in a circle. Kol in local language of Jammu is bowl and kandoli is circle, hence the name of the Mata here is kol kandoli Mata. We have Akshay vat tree where Mata played on the swing with kids and still the manyata of swinging is continued as a belief.
