The Sadasiva temple at Nuggehalli is a 13th-century Shiva temple with Hoysala architecture in Nuggehalli village, Hassan district, Karnataka, India. The temple is one of the best illustrations of the Hoysala era Nagara temple with the stellate style, remarkable for its octagonal star configuration with clean, simple aesthetics. The brilliant synthesis of South Indian ideas with North Indian architectural plan makes it a special monument. It is also notable for its artwork that depicts legends of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism and Vedic deities tog

The most interesting aspect of this 13th Century Hoysala Temple is that it has an unusual Bhumija Shikara , giving it a unique look . The front portions have been added by later Nayakas , while the interior is fully typically Hoysala with beautifully carved pillars and lintels . It is a protected monument .

This is Hoysala period temple which is located nearby famous Nuggehalli Lakshmi Narasimha temple. The temple has a vast premises built beside a pond. The temple has entrance hall which is having supported by High length pillars. Then a second hall which to the left you can find Parvathi idol. Then going straight you will find a dancing stage which covers main idol sadashiva to the left which faces to the east direction. To opposite side there a basavanna idol which is intricately carved. The dancing hall consists of some idols like veerabhadra, channakeshava, Subramanya, saptamatrike, Ganapathi. The Sadashiva sukhanasi entrance is intricately carved. Overall the temple is very beautiful for its carvings. Do visit when in town.

Sadasivaswamy temple is one of the two beautiful wonders in Nuggehalli. The other one is the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. Both the temples are in Hoysala style. Inside the temple, it is common Hoysala structure with nine ornate bays on the ceiling and lathe turned granite pillars. The outer walls of Sadasiviswamy temple are not decorated with intricate carvings unlike the Narasimha swamy temple. Even though it is a very beautiful structure. Before 11 am will be an ideal time to visit the temple.

Sadasiva temple, an unique hybridization of the evolved Hoysala style and the diffused Yadava type of the Bhumija style was erected in 1249 AD. The temple stellate on plan, the original structure consisted of a garbhagriha, a sukanasi and a navaranga with porches and a nandi-mandapa. A big hall and a lofty mahadvara in the Dravidian style have been added towards south, stylistically datable to the Vijayanagara period. The temple proper is built on a raised indented jagati which is treated with conventional mouldings. The adhisthana proper of temple has non-ornate mouldings. The wall is indented in the region of mahamandapa and stellate in the region of sanctum. In the region of mahamandapa, an inconspicuous devakoshtha breaks the monotony of bhitti. The eave of ordinary variety is crowned by different types of turrets and the superstructure over the sanctum even though dwarfish, is a total deviation from the usual vesara style. Interestingly, bhumijastyle of nagara sikhara has adopted in tritala vimana. The ashtabhadra sikhara is composed of kutas over malas. The mahamandapa of sukanasa has a sculpture of Siva as Nataraja under kirtimukha torana.
