Although it's a bit tricky to find the first time, this guest house is in a fantastic location close to the river with roof top views. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and nothing was any trouble for them. They do yummy food on site and can even make a decent Italian style coffee.
I'd stay there again, very convenient.

The location, the welcoming of all staff, clean and tidy rooms, good options for the breakfast considering for the price! The staff went above and beyond our expectations.
Thanks to all that work there and hopefully we will back one day to see you again.

Wow, this place is mystical.

Very basic, but very very clean. Just 30 steps you get down to Ganges at Munshi ghat.

Just a few narrow roads lead you to Shivji temple, shopping, tea, coffee & restaurants.

Very friendly host and the best of service.

Honestly not for families or old people. No lift. Small rooms.

But if you are the adventure lover, book this place blindly.

Now I hv a home at Varanasi.

The rooms are very clean and sanitised well.

The owner Vikas bhaiyya is so jovial, speaks from his heart and yes this is THE GUEST house.

I Stayed here for 15 days and never felt like living in a hotel!

And the receptionist my dear friend ‘Shubham’ became one of my closest friends in such a short period!

I never thought even in my dreams that people can be so friendly for so long!

Thank you Vikas ji and Shubham 🙌🏻

Note: If anyone visiting the hotel and found Vikas bhaiya there kindly listen to his tablas while he practices.
He is an international icon and the music is so pure and will take away all your pain.

Would love to keep on visiting again and again!

I couldn't be happier with my 9 days stay in this lovely Guest House. Very cosy room for a very reliable price. Perfectly located right at the ghats. Absolute highlight is the view from the rooftop 😍
The owner Vikas is a real gentleman and offered me very delicious selfcooked food and good service overall. I truly recommend this place for an unforgetable stay in Varanasi 🙏❤

This is a place you will never forget. The owner, Ravi, is an amazing person. He runs this guest house to fund Vagdevi children's art school. A school for poor children that he created and directs. So not only you will be in a beautiful guest house in the most antique Varanasi streets, but also your money will fund this school project. The atmosphere in the guest house is amazing. Full of musicians and artists your nights will be delighted with songs and sounds. Rooms are clean and location is perfect to have a great roof view of the Ganges. A place that will touch your heart and you will keep into your soul forever. If you stay there you can also go to the school one day to visit the children. It is an amazing experience.

This is one of those places that u know that from now on you will always come back to....
Good rooms, amazing rooftop view and a great location....but above all that i felt like its my family and that Ravi, the owner, is my brother:)
Ravi has also a school for children in need and part of the money you pay for the rooms goes to that beautiful school..... Staff of this guest house is so honest , and friendly they treat like a family member , i feel there like a home.....! highly recommended for this place

i will surely come back;)

Where to start :-)
Location: 10 meters from dashavamedh ghat where best arti occurs every evening. You could hear it from your room
There are 2 entrance
One is via small streets which are typical banaras streets with some rubbish around
Or the ghat side entrance which is very clean but has steep stairs (ghat stairs)
All in all best location to stay. The area is very well guarded by police as it is heritage zone.
So no worry about security

Booking:
I called the place directly which gave us the best price( no overheads of online booking sites). I suggest this approach. Owner himself is available and gave us the best offer.

Room: Rooms are cleaned. With super clean toilet (recently renovated)
Rooms are not very large but has enough space.
Beautifully decorated rooms. With direct view to ganga river (only 2 rooms has this view so ask for it)
Free water supply and reasonable pricing for tea/Food

Bonus: super open roof top with infinite view of ganga. Free to all guests and a best place to spend time late evening or even at night

Owner is a super host who arrange pickup and drop of to the station. We felt like staying at a friend's place.

Other bonus is. Owner is a master in indian classical music and is well known and established tabla player.

Fully recommended.
Give them a call to find your way
Note . Photo 4 has the view of ghat where bhadrakali guest house is located

Great place to stay in Venaras. If you want to stay nearest to ghat then it is the best place and from where Kashi Vishwanath temple is nearly 300 meters. Easy acess to market where you will get foods in affordable price.

Go ahead and book this guest house. Thumps up!

5 star for their ambience...this guest house is not for weak hearted ones as its constructed right next to river ganges. Rooms are cozy, no car or auto can come inside, you will have to walk from Girija Ghat not too long though. You will forget the pain of climbing stairs the minute you go to terrace and awestruck by the beauty of Ganga right in front of you...

The best place in India

We stumbled across this little gem by mistake, and ended up staying a week. Initially we were just looking for a cheap base to explore the city from, and did not expect so much from such a small, new hostel. This little unassuming place, down a labyrinth of alleys, is right next to the Ahilyabai Ghat. It was so lovely and unexpected, providing a welcoming homely contrast to the often stressful experiences of our day, and providing a huge amount of advice in planning our time and travels.

The young owner, Ravi, uses the profit from the hostel to fund his inspiring self-funded school on the city's outskirts. Ravi gave us lots of insider tips on where to go and how to get to places, and was kind enough to even take us to his school one morning to see the work he was doing to help local disadvantaged children. The children were enchanting, and the project is so worthwhile, I urge anyone to experience the charms of Bhadra Kali for themselves and help this cause. His generosity extended to a dinner at his family home, which was unexpected and really lovely.
Ravi has some exciting plans for the hostel, including a rooftop restaurant and lounge area, which future guests might be lucky enough to experience. In July it was still a bare terrace, but we were spoilt with a 360 degree view of the city and a Ganges-side viewpoint which few can experience elsewhere in such a busy, overcrowded city.

I urge you to stay at his lovely characterful and cheap cheap cheap guest house, hear Ravi play the beautiful tabla, and simultaneously fund local children's education, all at the same time! Have a happy stay.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for a balcony and Ganges view room. If not, just go up to the rooftop for a fantas...

Bhadra Kali is the best budget place to stay in Varanasi! It is in a great location. So close to the main ghat but tucked away from all the chaos. The common area is a great place to chill and meet other travellers over delicious chai, with nice library and with the free wifi. Ravi and his staff are wonderful and treat you like family. The rooftop has a great view especially at sunrise. This is a place you wont forget!!!

Bhadra Kali Guest House is just beside the 80th Ghat in Varanasi. 1 min walk. The owner is very humble, the service is 10/10, the food is vegetarian and very tasty also, just like home. The experience was very nice.
