Absolutely fabulous experience visiting the temple. We visited the temple on 11th feb 2024. No entry fee is charged. Very calm atmosphere. Odisha govt. has made light and sound shows which you shouldn't miss. After 6PM, you can watch it in free.

There are two shows in the evening. One, on the temple, describes the story of maa samaleswari. Second one, which is light and sound show involving fountain water in an open area about sambalpur & samaleswari maa. Both shows are organised in an internal of 15 minutes alternatively from 6PM to 7:30PM.

Located near to the shore of river Mahanadi, this temple is a calm, divine temple which attracts many visitors and tourists. Whoever goes to Sambalpur will definitely visit this temple because of its fame. The temple is big with lot of open space around the main temple. In the room where the goddess idol is situated, no ventilation and no lighting will be there. The goddess is powerful and many people believe in her very much. I kept on watching the idol when I went into the temple. I liked it very much. Must-visit temple when planning to visit Sambalpur.
Dhabalamukhi abatar is the best natural look of Maa Samaleswari.

There are many legends and stories are connected with the temple of Goddess Samaleswari. As per the historical evidences which are found, it is said that the Chowhan dynasty king, King Balaram Dev built the temple of Goddess Samaleswari in the 16th Century AD.

Presently work is going on for the development of the temple which is being designed around the temple.

The temple felt far better and more peaceful than any other temple in Odisha, the priests weren't that demanding and white temple is beautiful inside out, tho I still don't know much about the place and the gods inside, I'd have been better if it had more information about it written around. Since the temple is under renovation hopefully there'd be.
Jai Maa Samleshwari devi
Thanks.

The transformation of the temple was in progress during my visit. The progress was very good. A very good initiative by the government of Odisha to develop the infrastructure of a very important temple of western odisha as well as the entire Odisha. The darshan of goddess Samaleswari was also in a very disciplined way. The campus was very neat and clean.
