Hathras: The history of the temple Shri Dauji Maharaj located in the fort in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh is about 275 years old. It is said that the British had fired cannon balls on the temple, but could not damage the dome of the temple. One sphere is still preserved in the temple. The famous Lakhi fair of Braj is organized at the temple every year in the month of Bhadon, in which people from far and wide participate. Temple priest Govardhan Nath Chaturvedi told that this temple was built by King Dayaram about 275 years ago.The king named the temple Krishna Dev Temple. For the people this temple remained Dauji temple.
He tells that in 1817 the British attacked the fort of Raja Dayaram. The British destroyed the king's palace, ammunition etc. The king came and took shelter in the temple. The British did not even leave the temple. Cannon shells were fired at the temple. But even the cannon balls could not damage the temple. The marks of cannon balls are still present on the dome of the temple. One cannon ball is still safe in the temple, while one ball has been handed over to the Archaeological Department.
