Dashashwamedh Ghat is a main ghat in Varanasi on the Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh.

Dashashwamedh Ghat is an important Ghat, it is believed that Lord Brahma created this to welcome Lord Shiva.

Ganga Aarti is held daily at dusk. The Ganga Aarti starts after sunset and lasts for about 45 minutes. In summer the Aarti begins at about 7pm and in winter it starts at around 6pm.

Aarti begins with the blowing of conch shells. They use oil lamps having a snake hood. They move lamps up and down in a synced motion. They perform the Aarti in all direction. So, all people get a chance to see the Aarti from each corner. Ghat becomes too crowded during Aarti, so take care of belongings.

The present ghat was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in the year 1748. A few decades later, Ahilyabahi Holkar, the Queen of Indore rebuilt the ghat.

The Dashashmev Ghat of Ma Ganga ji was so beautiful at the night. The Kumbh mela administration has setup all the things very well. I have spent 30 mins there and observed a great vibe.

A must visit place especially for ganga arti in the evening. I visited it twice within 2 days of my trip. Short of words for it.

It's was chilled winter morning.
At the peak of Magh Mela
Nahan was going there.
We went to there for morning walk.
Astonished by watching how the PPL was taking Holy dipp in ganga
It's was so freezing.

During Maagh/January festival this place is full of tents & people around. Local authorities try to keep the area neat, clean & safe.
