St George orthodox Church is situated at a village called chandanappally which resides in the kodumon panchayat of Pathanamthitta district.

*People of chandanappally joins with the celebrations,customs and beliefs of this church without bothering their religion and caste

*The famous ritual of this church is chembaduppu raasa/perunnal on the behalf of the belief in the arrival of saint geevarghese . The raasa and celebrations usually held on May 7th and 8th of every year.

The St.George Orthodox Church of Chandanappally, most commonly known as 'Chandanappally Valiyapally' is one of the well known pilgrim churches of south India. Showing off brilliant Neo-Gothic style of architecture, this church has attracted and continues to attract thousands of visitors every year. The nave and chancel of this church are exquisite. The mortal remains of St.George is kept inside this church in a beautifully designed wooden structure.
'Chembeduppu rasa' on the auspicious day of church feast is the main attraction of 'Valiyapally' and it is well known for it's spiritual gathering. There is a common belief that who ever seek blessings of St. George in this church will be rewarded and their wish will be granted regardless of the cast and religion. This church will be usually crowded with people during the feast time of every year on May 7th & 8th.
