The archeological museum of Alampur houses few impressive stone sculptures, inscriptions, excavated in and around Alampur, mostly dated to the era of Chalukyas of Badami viz. c.6th - 9th Centuries CE.

NB - The museum is open on Sundays too, as I visited on sunday.

This museum is a must visit for those visiting Jogulamba Temple of Alampur. This archeological museum is a treasure trove of ancient and rare artifacts, not only of exquisitely carved sculptures, but also of many rock inscriptions belonging to the Chalukyas. These include the statue of Surya, monolithic sculpture of Shiva and Parvathi on Nandi, various forms of Nataraja, Mahishasura Mardhini, Saptamatrukas, etc. The inscriptions which stood the test of time, mostly in Devanagari shed light on the system and practices of those times.

Thinking of the age of each structure and the way it's constructed, it's mind blowing. One must visit this place to know the history and workmanship and the lout they have put forth to construct such a massive work of art. All the temple are dedicated to lord siva. Another Temple ruined by Muslim invaders. And there is a Dargah attached to this temple complex. Where ever there is peace, we have these scoundrel piecefuls.

This structure is known to have worked as laboratory when the temples were built 1500 years back.

అనేక దండయాత్రలు అపురూపమైన శిల్ప సంపదలన్నీ నాశనం చేయబడ్డాయి కర్నూలు నగరం ఈ దేవాలయానికి వచ్చేటువంటి భక్తులు నది అవతల నిలబడి బండ్లకు కందెన పోయడం కోసం ఏర్పడినటువంటి కందెనవోలు నేడు కర్నూలు నగరంగా అల్లంపూర్ నగరం కంటే చాలా విశాలంగా అభివృద్ధి చెందింది
