Hazrat Maulana Sadiq Shah Abbasi RA: Born in Tupchibar, Patashpur, East Midnapore, West Bengal. He was the Muatalli of Potashpur madrasa. Later Bhadrak came to Sheikh Shahi area and settled permanently. Bhadrak breathed his last in Sheikh Shahi.

PATASHPUR MADRASHA

The oldest educational institution of the undivided Medinipur District (Known in the area as "Patashpur Junior Madrasha") is located here. This Madrasha was founded by Khodabaksh Abbasi. He is the son of Hazrat Kamal Uddin Balki Abbasi. Hazrat Kamal Uddin Balkhi is a descendant of Hazrat Abbas Ra:, the uncle of Hazrat Muhammad Sa: . He came from Amarshi Kasba and founded the Madrasha here. This educational institution was built during the Pathan period(1560-1575). The Pathan rulers donated large amounts of waste land for the maintenance of Madrasha. During the reign of Shah Suja (1639-1660) the Madrasha and the structure of the Mosque were changed. During the Maratha invasion in Bengal(1740-1756), the Patashpur Madrasha came under their control. The Maratha Sardar was satisfied with the system of education of this Madrasha. They provided 200 bighas of land, 50 maunds of salt annually and one rupee per day for the smooth running of the Madrasha. In 1802 the Magistrate Stretched the details description of the Madrasha. In the beginning, the teachers of this educational institution were Hazrat Abdun Nabi Darvesh, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Hamid Dandishman(died in 1654) and Moulana Abul Baka(1765). "Anjuman E Islam" was founded in Calcutta in 1855. A branch of it was founded in Medinipur. Members of the Miya family of Patashpur were associated with the Medinipur branch. At that time the people educated in Islamic education from Patashpur Madrasa helped in the smooth running of the Anjuman E Islam Committee. In 1877 the Central National Mohammedan Association was set up. A branch of it was established in Medinipur. Golam Ali Eba, a member of the Patashpur Miya family, served as the assistant secretary of this branch. Through this branch, a letter is given to the District Magistrate regarding the financial condition of the residents and the placement of job.

Maulana Abu Taher Al Qadri (died in 1980) was involved in teaching in the early 20th century.
Famous students of this institution were Mohammad Ali Suhrawardy, Mubarak Ali Suhrawardy and Obaidullah Al Obaidy Suhrawardy (1832-1885), Mehedi Hasan Surhawardy (died in 1871), Sir Abdur Rahim (1867-1952), Ahmadullah Pir Saheb, and Kazi Abdur Rahman. Besides, many Hindu and Muslim students studied in this educational institution. This Madrasha was destroyed in 1951 and a Khareji Madrasha was built alongside it.
