Excellent museum that will give a lifetime experience on Earthquake and its effect on the society and the nation. The audio-visuals are most modern and very effective. Above all there are combinations of street models with mannequins trapped under debris. Six floors of utterly lifelike experience. The beauty is that you will not feel that you are climbing floors within the walkways. Suddenly you will find that you have come up by one more floor.
For going down there are hydraulic elevators independent for each floor. There is a nice canteen on the plinth that serves tasty foods in Punjabi, Southern and Chinese varieties. Museum is a pole star of Bhuj.

Exhibiting images and events from the Bhuj earthquake, this unique museum explains the causes of earthquakes and their aftermath. Exhibitions also feature the reconstruction and restoration following the disaster. The earthquake simulator is not like any other totally worth-it. Friendly and informed, the museum guides are. Cafeteria is quite good. Must visit place if you visit Kachchh.

A very creative museum, that gives the feel of the Bhuj earthquake 2001. It takes around 3-4hrs to take a tour of 7 unique galleries. 6th gallery is the most unique one, it has a simulator of earthquake, you can feel the actual earthquake. The ticket cost is ₹300, I would recommend booking a ticket advance through the website before visiting.

A vision to convert a disaster into opportunity is my first feeling when I visited the memorial.

The government has built this over acres and acres of space. It's truly amazing that such beautiful site is built which now attracts thousands of visitors to a place which generates so much to tourism.

The standout of the memorial is the 7 stage multi floor museum. It's informative, is an eye opener as well as evokes pride. Great use of modern technology. It's a guided tour.

Museum tickets - One can buy tickets online in advance. It's Rs.300 per person as of now. Will avoid wait time. Else one can buy at the ticket reception too. In that case one shall need to wait for the batch number to be called.

Spare good time to go through the 7 stages. Tectonic shift, Land changes over time, the Kutch earthquake and response and then a simulator to experience the earthquake. All is neatly done.

An audio guide is also available at the reception for a payment of Rs. 100.

This is the largest museums in the country. This museum is created in the memory of those people who lost their lives in a most destructive earthquake that came on 26th Jan 2001 which shook the whole district. So many buildings collapsed in this earthquake resulting in thousands of lives lost. This is a big place, so come prepared for that. Wear comfortable shoes, keep a big bottle of water too. There is buggy service available. There is museum in this campus and there is a walkway too. There are 6 galleries in total to see. On holidays there is quite a lot of people visiting this place. So be ready to be standing in long queue. Overall it's a must visit place to see what happened during the earthquake. Also people need to keep this place clean. There is a souvenir shop too if you want to buy anything made by locals. There is a restaurant too. Keep in mind this place remains close on Mondays. So plan your trip accordingly.

Real time experience of Bhuj earthquake. Worth a visit if you want to know in detail about the incident. If you booked/staying in tent (Rann of Kutch) for a day then you’ll get free pass. Minimum 3-4 hours required for complete visit.

Fantastic experience. Got a night bus from Ahmedabad and got off nearby the memorial at 6am. Free entry from 5am to 9am. The walk up the sunrise point was very peaceful and a local gentleman joined me on the way as chatted all the way to the top. Just got to the top in time for the sunrise.

Did some sketching and more chatting to friendly locals. Before making my way to the main museum for opening. I’m an Architecture student from Australia and have to say that this was one of the most amazing projects I’ve seen.

The museum needs to implement a foreign student price. It’s not fair that students like myself have to pay 3x the normal price of an adult, let alone 6.6x a local student price. 1000 rupee is a lot of money in India. Just think they should make it more accessible for all demographics.

The audio guide was great, every sign had English. Anyway but was great for the videos that were in Hindi. The museum took a couple hours. Great learning experience for all ages.

All in a great day exploring the sight. Would recommend. Also the site is wheel chair accessible and they have golf carts that run from the main carpark to the front door which was great when temperatures hit 38.

It's a beautiful and informative museum. It has seven galleries. They allow you to visit them only in order and if you choose to skip a gallery, you're not allowed to go back to it. Each gallery has one particular topic or theme. All galleries have interactive elelements and displays. I enjoyed galleries 1, 3 and 6 the most. If you're short of time, I'd recommend covering only these. Human, Hindi speaking guides will explain and take you through the gallery if you're a group of twenty or more. Audio guides are available for other languages.
The Museum should ideally come with trigger warnings but does not. Gallery 6 has the earthquake simulator which gives you an experience of what the Bhuj earthquake was like. Gallery 7 is small and has very beautiful interiors and might help make you feel calm.
A cloak room is available if you want to leave your bags. There's a cafe, a restaurant, a bookstore and a souvnier store in the building. It can get very crowded specially with student groups. To prevent overcrowding inside the galleries, the museum management allows people inside in batches.

Unique museum with explanation for the genesis of earthquakes and their effects shown through pictures and events from the Bhuj earthquake. The rehabilitation and rebuilding after the earthquake are also showcased. The earthquake simulator is unique. The museum guides are polite and knowledgeable. Limited eating options at the cafeteria but sufficient for a half day trip. Toilets are clean. Kids will enjoy the trip.

Amazzing is the word !! So proud to visit the Smriti Van museum, being one of the country’s biggest with world class features and spread over 3 floors. The guided tour is one of its kind with polite and knowledgeable staff. Be ready to wait some extra time during holidays and festive seasons, but 3/ 4 hours are sufficient enough to tour the 7 galleries, including the earthquake stimulator. At Rs.300/- for adults it really is a bargain price.

Must, must place for kids to visit which will facilitate their knowledge of History and Geography too. Extremely good for taking some great photographs. Food options though limited there are 2 restaurants, one serving A LA CARTE and the other with a limited buffet. Though I drove down 4 kilometers to Jalebi restaurant ( near Jubilee circle) to Savor their Thali!.

The Smriti van in Bhuj reflects the 2001 Bhuj earthquake and the evolution of life on earth and also the rehabilitation of life post the earthquake. The entire depiction of the earthquake is very heart wrenching. The museum is very well made and maintained, very informative and interesting to see facts presented really well.

One of the best places for kids to learn about earth and different natural calamities that occur and what happened in Bhuj and how we revived from this. This is a guided tour and will take close to 3 hours, so plan it accordingly.
