Nice place, not far from Mandavi beach, fully conserved in its originality; photo gallery to showcase the family tree, his works & the historic moments in Indian polity.
On the backyard benches, relax for sometime for the stray ideas floating inside... You never know what's waiting to be unleashed!

At a distance of 1 km from Ratnagiri Bus Stand and 3.5 km from Ratnadurg Fort, Tilak Ali Museum is located in Ratnagiri Town of Maharashtra. The Museum is a monument of great historical importance and also one of the top places to visit in Ratnagiri.

This is the ancestral house of Lokamanya Balgangadhar Tilak, a prominent freedom fighter of India. He was born in Konkan region and this museum depicts his life and sacrifice for Indian freedom. The house is a classic example of native Konkani architecture and it has been turned into a museum by the state Government in order to preserve the memory of the great freedom fighter.

The Tilak Ali Museum depicts the life of Lokamanya Balgangadhar Tilak and his struggle for Indian Independence through paintings and pictures. The museum had a collection of personal belonging of the great leader.

Historical monument. Well maintained place. It gives detailed information on the life history of Lokmanya Tilak. Pictorial charts and images displayed give nice insight on the life span of the Great Leader. It's really a big house with the same old heritage look. A must visit place.

It's a must visit place for all, especially if you like history of India's freedom movement. Place is well preserved and one must respect the rules. The caretaker was telling me that people try to take photos with their mobile phones and later upload in social media. This reflects very badly as the blame goes to the caretaker. Please read the description written along side the photographs and try to keep them in your own hard disc rather keeping them in mobile and forgetting them!
Sorry that I had to write this. All history lovers will love this place, it is nothing short of a pilgrimage for me.
I'm attaching a photograph which is outside the house and allowed to be clicked.

A well-maintained landmark in the history of Maharashtra and India. The birthplace of Lokmanya Tilak has been brought under the Maha Tourism department who have assigned caretakers and officials at this site to allow convenient access to tourists and historians alike. The build of the house represents the typical 1800s architecture, which has been preserved very well. Belongings used by Lokmanya Tilak have been kept on display, along the walls decorated with posters, letters and pictures reflecting on his life. Visiting on a Sunday afternoon, one would expect the place to be empty, but it was the exact opposite of it with about 10-15 people in the landmark at any given point, which is a pleasant sight given the deteriorating state of historic places and artefacts. Do visit the backyard of this house and take a seat (it may not be open depending on when you visit) as it has an extremely calming vibe, with the presence of an extraordinary piece of history lingering in the air around.

Do note, photography inside the area is not permitted as per rules.

In India anybody who studied till 10th had heard about the Lal Bal Pal triumvirate at least once. This review is about the birthplace of the great Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the father of the Indian unrest and the "Bal" of Lal Bal Pal.

This place is at Ratnagiri city and anybody who wants to visit can easily find this place with the help of Google Map.

You can take photographs only from outside of the house. Inside there are well maintained living rooms , one statue of Lomanya Tilak, old photographs and paper cuttings, items used by Lokamnya Tilak etc.
