Neat rooms. Bathroom also good. Good, tasty homely fud with minimum charge .
Hosts were very nice people especially Sreedevi Amma. Thanks to Amma and others.

A lovely place to stay and get connected with nature. The host and his family are very warm people and they go out of their way to help the guests. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The food prepared by hosts mother in law is authentic Kerala cuisine and it tastes really good. Ashtamudi lake and S cross view are at a walkable distance from this place. You can also book a canoe ride from them. It was a great stay and my kids enjoyed every bit of it.

Monroe Island is a very small town. The people are very friendly and there is none of that persistent touts often encounter in India. There is not much to activities other than boating in the countryside. But for travelers who want to get away from it all, it is a paradise.
The Royal Monroe Palace family is very friendly and clean.
You may have trouble communicating in English, but it's not a problem! Wifi works well!
And best of all, the home-made food is amazingly healthy and delicious.

Amazing and a budget homestay with nice and clean rooms. The host was very friendly and the food cooked in Kerala style was mouth watering. Enjoyed my stay at this place a lot. Located just beside one canal, its peaceful all around. And the canoeing ride experience with Appu bhai was heartwarming. Highly recommended.

We didn't have any plans to stay for a night at Munroe Island but we researched and it was advised to stay there a night at a homestay. So we did. Now, Munroe is a beautiful (understatement) village. Someplace I would stay after my retirement. It's peaceful and surreal. Its an Indian version of Giethoorn (a province in Netherlands). We reached there at night by train and connectivity is still tricky and less because of course. Surprisingly, the owner was waiting for us at the station which was an extremely sweet gesture given the fact that we never called for it. He drove us to the homestay where his family welcomed us warmly and heartily. We went to our room and the room was really nice, cosy with AC, the bathroom was heaven considering how badly we all needed a shower. We had a pretty balcony and also the bed was clean and so comforting. We immediately took a shower and went down for dinner. The table and dining hall was set so nicely and the best part was that we felt so homely, I am describing it in words but honestly, I can't. The lady, his wife who is a brilliant cook btw, cooked us homemade food and that was just what we wanted after travelling so much and eating cafe food. Next day they got us a canoe to the backwaters of Munroe and I honestly have done nothing to deserve such beauty. I am not exaggerating. Those people living there are a part of something so surreal and beautiful. We came back had amazing breakfast. Later, I rented a cycle which they had provided me with. I cycled around the town for an hour or so and it was one hell of an experience, make sure you do it. Then lastly before leaving for Varkala, we had proper Kerala banana leaf lunch and without a doubt it was sumptuous. She made us prawns too, it was delicious. Again, she is a great cook. Also, all this while they arranged us extra bedding and helped us with all our queries. The entire family was so sweet, had a smiling face always and helped us with legit everything. Do stay here.

Best option in munroe island. Super delicious homely food and clean rooms. They have arranged facilities for boat ride, dingi small boats for fun ride and all other facilities really well. Never felt like a hotel but like a home where we wish to visit again and again....
