30/08/2021 evening I went to Supply Co. on Vallikkavu Jetty Road for some essentials items. When I found out I was going to Supply Co., an elderly couple in the neighborhood handed me to their ration card. They told me to buy whatever I could get with the subsidized items. According to it, chilli, sugar, peas and coconut oil were available. After taking the goods, I handed over my own card and the neighbors' card for billing. When I bought peas at a subsidy of Rs 60, they said they would give me coconut oil only if I bought peas worth Rs 100 without subsidy. One of the elderly couple is at rest after undergoing cataract surgery. One may have difficulty walking due to severe knee pain. Despite their physical hardships, they refused to give up what they deserved. Since the cashier was a woman, I withdrew from there without further ado.
