The River of Rome!

The river rises at Mount Fumaiolo in Central Italy and flows in a generally southerly direction past Perugia and Rome to meet the sea at Ostia. Known in ancient times as Flavus (Latin for 'the Blond'), in reference to the yellowish colour of its water, the Tiber has advanced significantly at its mouth, by about 3 km, since Roman times, leaving the ancient port of Ostia Antica 6 kilometres in land. However, it does not form a proportional delta, owing to a strong north-flowing sea current close to the shore, due to the steep shelving of the coast, and to slow tectonic subsidence.

A beautiful river flowing through Rome, at the height of the old town beautifully fortified with many historic bridges. A bike path along the shore is a great idea. An ideal place for a bike ride or a walk.

The river cuts Rome in half, and, when you come here, you'll find yourself often crossing the water on one of the many bridges along its banks.

After a very busy day at the Vatican, River Tiber offers some sense of tranquility. Walk on the bridge, listen to the buskers, breath Roman air... it's priceless!!!

I'm giving this 5 stars not because it is a river but because the Romans built a lot of what you see to contain the river.
Get a book on Rome and learn about each bridge and the age of them
You will be surprised to find out the bridge Ponte Sant Angelo was built during Hadrian's time.
Many photo opportunities and several bridges to explore.
You can take the steps down to the river for a traffic and crowd free walk or run.

I wonder how many dead babies are in that river. From history, “infanticide” was widely practiced by Romans and Greeks, thank God for the rise of Christianity, condemning this wicked act. Romans and Greeks are indebted to Christians, because if it’s wasn’t for the Christian faith, some of you would never be here. Facts.

Tiber river is the origin of Western History.

It's the river of Rome! Full of history and legends! It's always a pleasant stay on the side listening to the sound of the water!!
As all the rivers that run into a big city, the quality of the water is low, but its a nice spot for fishing catch and release carp and giant catfish!
My funny description:
The Tiber is the second river for length in Italy, that means that it runs inside Rome just at the end of its path.
It starts as a little narrow river from Fumaiolo Mountain, and after to become a river properly it crosses Umbria region, with spectacular meanders just before its stopped for Corbara Dam creating the artificial basin of Corbara lake, then after it crosses the border with Latium Region going through Tuscia Area. It goes through Sud direction until Sabina Region, passing the fantastic Farfa Natural Park Reserve where suddenly it modified the path through East course, going to the Tirrenian Sea.
Rome is crossed just at the end of the Tiber's path, whereas after a few miles it flows to the sea very close to the Fiumicino Area famous for the Airport.
Romans call it "Biondo Tevere" that means Blonde Tiber because of the colour the water had.
Right now we should call it the Brown Tiber!!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful, from Fiumicino to the beautiful city of Rome, to Vatican City, & inland to the Appenines.

Great river, but there were signs all along it that I couldn't read (I don't speak Spanish)
