Franzensfeste Fortress

Is a majestic place to visit inside and outside, I been all around the area and I been so in love with it. You have two fortress, one on the street level and the other one above it on the other side of the mountain. I been inside and the only disappointment was that now is completely empty. Nothing from the ww2
But still worth every penny to visit. And from May on you can see the high fortress where you can go from an inside connected stair from the low fortress. Is incredible.

Stayed for 3 hours.Especially liked the exhibition, the building of the Brenner base tunnel. Models and video explanations.Not so interesting for kids but for adults if you are interested in construction / environment,./machines,geology /..you name it then you will find it fascinating if you bother to read the cards. In English as well as Italian. Loved an art exhibition too in one of the tunnels. The fortress itself interesting .Had a cafe. Car park round the corner in next road . 60 c an hour.

Stunning building with an even more stunning story. We took a guide that explained the whole story.
There are always expositions to visit and when you take a tour make sure you can walk stairs!!! 451 in a row!!! Someone who has knee or or back problems or is not in good condition will not make it to the top!!

Wear good shoes also. Just a tip :-)

Wonderful and beautifully kept fortress. Nice museum, event the BBT tunnel Infopoint with its side expo is really well set up.

Great very interesting point to stop. You can smell the history of these walls!
