Wine Resort Villagrande

We spent 3 days at the suites of Barone di Villagrande, in Milo, Sicily. The winery is one of the oldest in Sicily, founded in 1727 by a specific family from the region, and it´s located on the slopes of the Etna volcano, 700 m above sea. Moreover, there are 14 hectares of vineyards positioned in a “kind of natural amphitheater”, where in the highest part are located the old wine cellar and the building where the tastings and suites take place.

We enjoyed the pool (although chilled water) that has a breathtaking view and infinity edge and the wines they produced: Etna Bianco, vinified from pure Carricante grapes, Etna Rosato, made from Nerello Mascalese grapes, Etna Rosso (Nerello Mascalese (80 %) and Nerello Cappuccio (20 %)) grapes, the Sciara, a red made from Merlot and Nerello Mascalese grapes and, finally, a splendid Malvasia delle Lipari (Sicilian dessert wines)…. it was stunning.

This was a stop chosen by a tour guide and it was fantastic. I am not a wine connoisseur but the wines were well-paired with some phenomenal edibles. The winery overlooks a terraced vineyard, all of which overlooks the Mediterranean and I believe that reservations are required. I am not sure the price of our tasting as it was included with our tour, but worth a fine penny. We got to check out the cellar as well, which pipes water through the walls to keep it cool without it having to be too deep. Knowledgeable, professional, bilingual staff. A great stop.

We had a great stay/Honeymoon here. I feel the Resort has a great value for the money. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds and a wine for welcome. The Garden and pool area is beautiful. We had a great breakfast and a even more spectacular dinner (+wine tasting). Best part: the staff was super friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back! Thank you

Beautiful grounds and resort. So very impressed with the staff. When we checked in they asked about allergies and food preferences, they remembered 3 days later when we did a wine tasting my allergies and food preferences, they paired my wine with appetizers that I could eat. Thank you! We will be back.

If the price works for you I can only highly recommend that you go here.

One piece of advice: the area has a micro climate, so it is colder and it rains a bit more than in Catania. Which was a perfect change for us, but might require some warmer clothes if you are visiting in Autumn or Spring.

We be been explained the work of the local Sicilian wine makers. It s been a perfect introduction to the wine tasting that followed. On the top of that a perfect food matching with apéritivo and an amazing view on the vineyard. We strongly recommend.

Really nice location with views both day and night. I did the wine tasting. The wine was good although I am a beer person. Food was very good. Please note some wines available here are not available in the US.

The full experience of staying in a winery. Rooms are very well equipped and beds are comfy. The view from the room is stunning: to open the window in the morning and see the vineyard is a priceless experience. Ask for the degustation menu: you won't regret it.

We really enjoyed the wine pairing here! Not only were the elegant wines delectable, but the paired food was also delicious!

Winemaking facility hidden on a hillside of Etna that happens to be a perfect place for a five course lunch with paired in-house wines. Awesome experience.

An absolute paradise.
Absolutely nothing to complain about, it's stunning clean and quiet. The food and wine were outstanding and the staff were kind, helpful and friendly. 10 out of 10!

Sensational. Stunning location. We booked in for a tasting lunch 40 euro and we got a tour, food and paired wines. Everything was delicious.

They took care of us like family. Wines are great and the views even better. I highly recommend the wine tour and lunch.

Waajow, best ever. This is the Ava Devine in winetasting, only with actual stars ;-). I am still enjoying afterwards while driving back listening to SICKO MODE (Drake & Travis Scott banger!).
