Loved coming here, very special atmosphere! People are very nice and no one was trying to cut in line. The stadium itself is pretty run down but that adds to the atmosphere. Bring some old newspaper to put on the seats and some toilet paper too in case you need..

One of the most important places in Genova.
Luigi Ferraris.
Its about 10 minutes drive from the city. On Corso Alessandro De Stefanis . They play Series A and B club matches in Italy. Home teams are Genova CFC and Sampdoria fc.

Great stadium. Unfortunately it was almost empty when we visited for a cup match against a lower league team. Anyway this stadium, even when empty, has a unique atmosphere and structure. Also close to the city center (20 minutes walk to Genova Brignole).

Everyone who is into real soccer stadiums will have a good time. Of course it’s not one of the newest arenas, but you get the real soccer stadium vibes with a very emotional crowd. We loved it!

As the Football Tourists, this year we visited the derby of Genoa. Derby della Lanterna! It was an amazing experience in this friendly and accessible stadium.
We love football!

We were on trip close to this stadium and we saw a lot of local fans of Sampdoria and in spite of that we are not huge fans of futball...we took a chance to see this unique experience ♥

Truly special stadium. You are so close to the pitch that you can hear the coaches and players speak. It was an unreal experience for me as it was the first time I saw my team play and I got to really size all the players up. You are so close you can see the players expressions. I will say that we got the tribuna inferiore seats which are a tad more expensive than the others bit as I mentioned it is worth the experience!!

I have been taking opportunity to watch lanterna derby won by Sampdoria, autogol and Quagliarella goals. I think for who love football must see at least once this stadium in the life...

The best place to see football in Italy, maybe just after the Juventus stadium, but here you can just come and get at a ticket cheaply for our home sides unless they play some big teams.
If you are in Genova just get a ticket and come see a match of Samp or Genoa (better Samp..). Forget the awful experiences of watching a game with a track in then middle, this is an "English" stadium

Classic Serie A stadium home to both Genoa FC and sampdoria. If you are able to see a game here do it! The atmosphere is fantastic and it's easy and cheap to get tickets for seats with a good view.

Home of CFC Genoa 1893, owned by the City of Genoa. Very old English style grounds. Perfect view of the pitch. It makes the crowd very close to the players.

THE SMOKING SAILOR OF GENOA
Sampdoria is one of Italy’s more mythical football clubs although it was formed as late as 1946 through a merger of the Genoa clubs Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria. The purpose was to create a counterbalance to the town’s historically dominant team, Genoa CFC. As both Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria played in Serie A, the new club UC Sampdoria could continue in the top flight. Out of respect for both clubs, Sampdoria was thus a fusion of their respective names, and Andrea Doria’s blue and white colours were used as the base for the match shirts while the red and black stripes of Sampierdarenese adorned the chest. Sampdoria’s emblem bore the image of Genoa’s city crest, the cross of St George.
Sampdoria began with an impressive, if brief, period in Serie A, but the greatest successes were not achieved until the oil magnate Paolo Mantovani took over the club in 1979. In the era of Mantovani, Sampdoria were promoted to Serie A in 1982, the start of a golden age that would last just over 10 years. Sampdoria won the Italian Cup in 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1994 and managed the impressive feat of winning Serie A in 1991. The team also won the Cup Winners Cup in 1990 and played in the 1992 European Cup Final against the mighty Barcelona.
In 1980, Sampdoria adopted a new club crest featuring a pipe-smoking sailor called Baciccia – the dialect name for Giovanni Battista (John the Baptist), who happens to be Genoa’s patron saint. This is one of world football’s most striking crest designs.

CLUB: UC Sampdoria
NICKNAMES: I Blucerchiati (the Blue Hooped Ones), La Samp and Il Doria
FOUNDED: 1946
STADIUM: Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa (36,536 capacity)
HISTORIC PLAYERS: Roberto Mancini, Attilio Lombardo, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Gianluca Vialli and Angelo Palombo
