Charming Hotel with Wonderful Views
We were able to park our car outside the hotel and check in with our luggage before parking the car in their car park. Our room and bathroom were spacious with plenty of cupboards. The staff on reception were wonderful and since we were only staying one night took advantage of their shuttle service into and return from Taormina. Francesco who drove us, was a mine of information. There is also a bus stop opposite the hotel with regular buses to and from the Taormina centre. We had a balcony attached to our room which had great views over Taormina to Mt Etna. Breakfast was full on buffet served on the terrace so that we could take advantage of the views. There is a lovely pool and sunning area on the same level. We wished we had spent another night here but had an hotel booked the next day in Cefulu. Would recommend this hotel for a number of night stays.

Great little hotel with fabulous views of Mount Etna from the terrace and the pool. Really helpful staff, a good restaurant, La Caberna, and a great location - they run a shuttle bus into Taormina, and you can easily walk up into the village of Castelmola which is charming.

We had a pleasant stay, especially reception staff is very helpful. Rooms not new but clean.
Downside: coffee at breakfast is terrible and a disgrace to a country with coffee culture like Italy.

Stayed at the villa for 5 nights in April. The villa is beautiful, location and views are extrodinary. But most of all the service...the service was outstanding! Specifically David, at reception, who provided a lot of guidance and expereinced assistance, and Irena at the restaurant, who was so kind, hospitable, and also helped with day to day tips. We will definitely return there...

We stayed here for 5 days and it was a brilliant hotel to stay in and the location is unbelievable, our key also broke in our door and they immediately gave us another room which was bigger than our original highly rated.

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Sonia for 7 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the warm welcome to our departure all staff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way for us. A special mention to the waitress who worked in the restaurant and the attendant who ran the pool bar, sorry I do not know their names.
A very relaxing hotel that sets the tone for a wonderful holiday, the attention to detail, wonderful views, local wine and the location in Castelmola all contributed to stay leaving us with great memories. Thank you.

A charming hotel with simply amazing views of Etna and surrounding valleys.
Beautiful grounds and terraces with pool and plenty of places to rest and relax
Lovely sister restaurant next door and plenty to do close by.
Hotel Parking available free of charge close by, although I imagine in high demand during the busy season.
The rooms could benefit from a slight improvement to decor and comfort although everything worked and ours was particularly spacious.
The staff were very friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. The communal areas wereappealing and very tastefully dressed. Breakfast lovely.
Best I can say is that I will definitely return.

Stayed for four nights in May. Very spacious for the superior Mount Etna room with a beautiful view from our balcony. Castelmola is a five mins walk up the hill and worth visiting. Taormina is a car or bus journey, although you can walk it and it is 30 mins walk downhill. About 260m descent so it is a hike back up or a taxi ride. Last buses left at 6.50pm from Taormina when we were there.

Staff very friendly and helpful with good advice for visiting local places. Breakfast is a buffet with a reasonable selection of pastries, warm food, fruit and yogurts. There is a price list for freshly made orange juice, coffee and omelettes, although you can have coffee from the machine which is ok.

We didn’t have chance to try the swimming pool because the weather was too cold but it was open. It looked a nice area with plenty of sun loungers.

Car parking was €7 per night for spaces inside the hotel grounds which are a little tricky to navigate as the hotel is on side of a hill, but it is cheaper than the public car park opposite.

There is a restaurant up the road called Caverna which we enjoyed and is only two mins walk. As a hotel guest you get 10% off food.

Our room was very spacious including the balcony. There was a large double bed (size of two singles together). There is a refrigerator in the room with water provided - although there was no price list, there is a charge for each bottle you use (€1,50 per bottle) which we discovered on check-out. Bathroom was a good size but the bath’s jacuzzi jets didn’t work unfortunately and shower screen wasn’t big enough to stop water going on the floor. Corridors don’t have carpet so it is a little noisy but we were next to the stairs so it’s probably not an issue for most rooms.

The view from the room was spectacular and worth the extra price we felt. We’d love to return in the summer and experience warmer weather!

Superb hotel, lovely friendly staff, excellent food, breakfast on the sun terrace was so peaceful and with a view that should not be missed.
There is a fantastic restaurant attached to the hotel that is 1st class serving beautiful food, lovely friendly staff and very attentive, a 2nd café a short walk up to Castelmola is highly recommended with views to die for, I would highly recommend this resort if your looking for peace and quiet you really need to look no further. Thank you to you all for making our stay so wonderful. See you again in 2023.

David and his coworker in the reception was super helpful and kind, great guy 11/10!
Tino/Dino in the restaurant was super kind and helpful 11/10!
Probably the best view wei have had at a hotel in our lives!
Unfortunately were the beds and pillows were terribly uncomfortable which is the only BIG downside from our stay.

Amazing.
Don’t buy into the ´dated look´ reviews. You either like that style or don’t! Pictures show what’s available so you know what you’re choosing. I personally loved the character of the hotel. Classy, quality decor.
Fabulous service. Very helpful staff and an amazing location if you want to venture out of usual tourist paths. Go on be brave and explore.
Good gluten and dairy free breakfast, which was included.
Made friends with locals and cannot wait to return!

Booked this hotel through booking. com and this is the most beautiful hotel ever. Everything we saw and read on the website is exactly how it is. The hotel has lots of balconies to relax on and the pool is very nice. The breakfast is nice too and there is a local bus link right outside the hotel that takes you to Taormina town . Very friendly staff and the rooms are clean and modern with a small mini bar.

It was really a great experience to stay at Hotel Villa Sonia. Spacy rooms with a awesome view to the old lady, Etna. Wonderful breakfast, and buses just outside the door witch drives to the center of Taormina in less than 25 minutes. Not the last time, me and my wife will stay at Villa Sonia. Excellent!

Mariella was wonderful and helped us to create an amazing 'after party lunch' for the day after our wedding on their beautiful terrace. We had the pizza ovens going, two outdoor bars, and a lovely pool area. It's a lovely sun trap with the best views in Taormina in our opinion! The staff were very accommodating and professonal, there is plenty of parking and also taxis if necessary, which makes it a very convenient venue compared to the rest of Taormina which is very difficult for access. Our guests were all wowed by the views, as we were - Mt Etna spitting lava in the background! We will definitely be going back and would thoroughly recommend.
