FONTANARO ORGANIC OLIVE ESTATE, FARMING AND VILLAS - THE COUNTRY SLOW LIVING

We attended a wedding at Il Fontanaro and were blown away by everything. The friendly and knowledgeable staff, the delicious local cuisine, and the breathtaking landscape all contributed to an unforgettable experience. The living quarters in the villa, with a pool overlooking the rolling hills, created a perfect setting. The entire Fontanaro experience made the wedding occasion even more special. You must see it for yourself!

The most beautiful Villas in Umbria or Tuscany. A great location to base your Tuscany and Umbria exploration, Lucia is the best hostess! Lucia and her excellent team helped with all of our reservations to restaurants, wineries, and renting a car for local travel. Lucia is very well connected throughout Italy and can help you have an extraordinary experience. The staff takes care of the little details that make for a unique experience of a lifetime. Some examples, they provided coffee, milk, eggs, pasta, sauce and amenities to get you started. Rodrigo also started a fire in the woodstove at the villa while we were out at dinner! What a treat to come back to during a chilly night! The organic olive farm is a special place with amazing views. I also did the cooking class with Chef Alina right at the villa and I learn so much. She also shared the recipes so I can cook them at home afterwards.

We travelled all around Tuscany and Umbria and this was without doubt our favourite location and property we visited. The setting was amazing and you'd struggle to find nicer hosts globally let alone in Italy. We also did the cooking class, which was informative and incredibly enjoyable. We learnt so many skills to take home but was also one of the highlights of our trip! I wouldnt hesitate to recommend staying here if its available and will be booking ASAP for our return!

Had an amazing cooking class this morning at Fontanara Slow Cooking school. After picking fresh tomatoes in their gorgeous fruit and vegetable garden, we had an olive oil tasting and then learned how to make different sorts of pasta’s and 2 desserts. To end with a great lunch, eating all the food we prepared, and more, accompanied by the Fontanara wine and topped with some coffee and limoncello. After that we had an explanation about the production of the olive oil and were able to walk around the garden. Thank you Fontanara team, for the great experience and your hospitality!

We had a truly special and unforgettable experience at Il Fontanaro. We loved absolutely everything - the accommodations of Frantoio, the pool, the farm and garden, the cooking class, the very special olive oil, wine, honey, and all of the interactions we had with The family and staff. In a book about hiking Umbria, we read about a beautiful hike to take in Paciano - to our surprise, we could start/end the hike right from Il Fontanaro's driveway! The sunset at Madrevite was out of this world, thank you for suggesting it to us!!

And - the truffle hunt (and lunch afterwards featuring our finds!) you arranged for us at Seven Cafe was extra extra special!

We stayed at the 1 bedroom villa (Leccino) which is located right on the homestead of an amazing olive farm. The villa and amenities were amazing and had everything we could have wanted. The picturesque views is amazing and the location perfect for seeing the Umbria/Tuscany area, the hosts were superb!!! Lucia didn’t just make sure all of our needs were looked after (including making our dinner reservations and excursions), they went above and beyond for us. They actually made us feel part of their family. We enjoyed wine with them and a meal as well. The cooking class offered onsite by a professional chef was the icing on the cake. Not only would we recommend staying at one of their 11 properties in the region, we plan to go back again and will be booking very soon once our dates are confirmed! Very peaceful location. Beautiful salt water pool. Very clean rooms/ suites. We are staying at Sassicaia. There are two full bathrooms in our unit. It’s very well equipped with everything you need. The owners are very nice and caring too!

Our stay is 11 nights! We are a family of five. July 9-20th, 2022.

Our four days at il Fontanaro were the essence of slow living—a quiet, beautiful, gracious, warm, and most hospitable experience that captured our idea of Italian life in a small village. We loved every minute, from the moment we were greeted by Lucia to the pizza party the last night of our stay. Our refrigerator was stocked for breakfasts and we walked to the village for lunch. The view from our apartment looked out on a patio and lawn and hills to the west. Sunsets were lovely. Seeing that we were up and around one morning, a member of the staff asked if we would like espresso; in response, he reappeared with a tray of everything we needed to enjoy such a nice treat. This seemed a spontaneous gesture on his part and an example of Lucia and her family’s care for the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. We could go on about all that make this place special—the olive oil, the honey, the views, the other guests….This was our second trip to il Fontanaro, having discovered it 20 or so years ago. We hope to make a third trip soon.

This location along with their other suites at their olive farm, are surrounded by the most beautiful Landscapes. The host and her associates can easily be contacted for recommendations. Love love love the place, the village and the people.

Stayed at Fonte Cicerum - a perfect spot to explore Tuscany and Umbria from. The villa was spacious, well-equipped and had stunning views over the countryside. Highlights of the area included visiting Paciano, Panicale, Perugia and the area around Lake Trasimeno.

We had some initial issues around hot water and heating, however the hostess made every effort to see that it was resolved quickly. Our hostess also went out of her way to organise a wine tour (highly recommended), restaurant bookings and other activities in the area.

Overall would recommend.

Alina and her staff were so helpful to a large group of us staying at the Estate during the week. Beautiful accomodation and surroundings with stunning views. The capacity to drive to a different small town in Umbria/Tuscany each day with local recommendations of where to eat was also appreciated in addition to the wine tour that Alina organised. Sitting by the pool, drinking a glass of wine and watching the sun set every night was a really enjoyable way to end the day. Highly recommend.

I visited this place last week and had the pleasure of meeting both Alina and Lucia. The place is amazing, the family are amazing and the food is to die for!!

I did the cooking course with Alina, and enjoyed every minute of it. If you want an authentic Italian experience, I would definetly recommend this place.

As well as the cooking, I was also given a tour of the grounds, Olive Mill and Wine cellar. It is such a fantastic place with an amazing view.

Fontanaro is like coming home to the Italian home I never had.
Everyone is so friendly and non chalant like they've known you a lifetime.
We were all charmed and mesmerized by Alina as she gave us a multiplicity of Italian cooking lessons and a feast to remember. Stella the Bella is the cutest little Chef and of course Mom was the elegant host that made us feel like family..... Thank you all for your everything...

Had the most wonderful visit to Umbria and Il Fontanaro in March. Perfect weather, perfect temperature, perfect everything ! Learned so much about olive oil and the process. Highly recommend.

Had a fantastic stay at Fontanaro's beautiful Sangiovese villa in June 2016. Lucia was a welcoming host and fabulous cooking instructor. I love using my heart shaped ravioli cutter which was kindly gifted to us for our wedding anniversary. Now I can make ravioli and tiramisu like a real Italian Nona!

We rented Brunello at Villa Tartagli and our stay was superb: the 3br house was perfect with a gourmet kitchen, pool, and view for miles. The owner, Alina, was charming, very responsive to any question or request, and full of suggestions for excellent restaurants, shops, places to visit. So, where do I begin. The landscape is absolutely out of this world. The host is super friendly and knowledgeable. The oil is excellent, and the tasting is informative. In addition to all that, the recommendations and feedback on things to do in around the are are top notch. If you are in the area, you must stop by. One of the best experiences at an affordable price. Can't recommend it enough.

I absolutely loved every minute I spent at Il Fontanaro with Lucia and Alina--who have become family to me--and have gone back several times already since my first visit a year ago. It is a stunning property, its beauty and tranquility unlike anything I've experienced in other parts of Italy, and with the warm hospitality and generosity that characterizes every visit, I am happy to call Il Fontanaro a second home for me.

We spent our honeymoon at Il Fontanaro. It was the most beautiful place I have ever been. Gorgeous views, amazing hosts, delicious food. I dream of going back on a regular basis.

Outstanding. Beautiful home, impeccably maintained, in a gorgeous setting. Great service throughout. Walking distance to town, playground, good casual restaurants. Refreshing salt water pool. The whole family had a great time. Would return.
