Stopped here for a short reflection. It was a beautiful cemetery. The monuments were very beautiful and moving. I highly recommend stopping. There is also a free restroom near the monument which is clean and well maintained.

This was a beautiful setting and memorial to the Americans who are buried here. The grounds are immaculate, and I learned a bit about the Italian campaign. It is well worth the side trip.

The Florence American cemetery is a beautifully built, and meticulously kept memorial for the thousands of American service members who are either buried there, or whose names are inscribed on the wall of the “Missing In Action” at the memorial on the top of the hill. Like the Punch Bowl at Pearl Harbor and the cemetery above Omaha beach in Normandy, France, this cemetery speaks to the on-going devotion of the American Battle Monuments Commission to honor our nations fallen heroes.
On the day of our visit, cemetery administrator Eryth Zecher displayed professional courtesy and compassion in assisting us with honoring our fallen hero. She provided us with a small American and Italian flag, and conducted a “sanding” ceremony on the cross of our 88th Division soldier. It is comforting for us to know that Army Staff Sergeant John Hastings Junior, is being kept in her care.

Powerful and moving place to visit. A must stop. Beautiful grounds and a lot of history on WWII. Be sure to place a rock on a gravestone and thank those who sacrificed their lives. Time will not dim the glory of their deeds. We were able to arrange a nice tour overview with Rosie. Thank you!

The history and sacrifice humbles me so much. I find myself in tears as I describe my visit.

You can't help but cry a little bit or even a lot when you stand before the graves and all of the names of the missing.

The memorial here is classy, respectful and even beautiful.

This is located literally right by the highway to florence and should be a stop for anyone coming through but especially my fellow Americans.

Here rest 4,392 American soldiers.
They represent 39 percent of US Fifth Army burials, originally carried out between Rome and the Alps. Most were killed in the fighting that occurred after the capture of Rome in June 1944. These include casualties from heavy fighting in the Apennines shortly before the end of the war. On May 2, 1945, the enemy troops in northern Italy surrendered.

Very beautiful and moving cemetery. We visited on Veteran's Day and experienced a moving ceremony. The location in the hills south of Florence is beautiful and the sight pays proper respect to our fallen heroes. Very week kept grounds and the headstones shine brightly in the sun. A must see in central Italy.

This is a very moving and emotional places that honors the memories of those American heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice which made such an important difference that helped finally to bring the European war to an end. Thank you for your service and sacrifice! May we who enjoy the benefits of what you fought for never forget!

Peaceful and beautiful place honoring American GI’s who gave their life fighting in Italy. We saw a sign on the way from Florence to Chianti and stopped to walk the grounds. There were a handful of others there and the birds were chirping peacefully in the background. Very well maintained by someone. A moving experience,

A tribute to the American fallen soldiers of the Second World War. 4402 troops are buried in the cemetery. The site is on a tranquil slope with rows of crosses.

It was very moving to visit this memorial cemetery. I have an interesting linage as one of my grandfathers fought for America while another one fought for the nazis. However I am a proud American and I am very thankful for the sacrifice these men made for our beautiful nation. God bless America

Beautiful US cemetery. Thousands of WWII soldiers buried here who died in Italy fighting the Nazis. The Italian ppl who we spoke with are extremely grateful for their ultimate sacrifice. The cemetery is beautifully and respectfully kept. There is an indoor area where soldier’s birthdays are honored each day. Staff will teach you as much or as little you want to learn. I highly recommend a visit while in or near Florence. We took a cab from the city center.

So much sacrifice for such little respect, Europe forgot the sacrifice that all Americans made. May God grant them eternal peace, may God give us peace.🙏

Was such a somber but powerful experience to be here. Beautiful cemetery and monuments for the men that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in the largest world war in history. The plaques are in both English and Italian, and have so much information on the campaign to liberate the Italian peninsula from the Nazis. An amazing cemetary and monument to visit for WWII sites.
