We had the vegetarian and fish tasting menu. Excellent food, offered by very helpful staff. We had a wonderful time and experienced great hospitality.

A great special occasion restaurant. Everything was perfect. We pre-ordered a special cake for an anniversary. All was delicious and exceeded expectations.

Very romantic and atmospheric place. Very knowledgeable staff serving delicious Italian food. We very party of two vegetarians and a pestatarian, there was plenty to choose from. It's a little bit more pricey than other restaurants in the area but compared to restaurants in Ireland it's a bargain. Well worth it. Special mention to Gianluca.

We went here twice during our holiday, one time for the nine course chef’s menu and one time for the tasting menu of the land, both with accompanying wine arrangement. The staff is very friendly, professional and attentive and the food is seasonal and made from local produce. The dishes are well balanced in flavour with exciting accents to create a nice culinary experience. I highly recommend dining here if you want to enjoy qualitative restaurant experience in Santa Maria where you will feel welcome and relaxed.

This is a memorable dining experience. It is located in an old stone building which opens onto a waterfront street which in the evenings is for pedestrians. The service is attentive but not intrusive. We had a 4 course tasting menu, which with several small surprise bites in between became an extraordinarily diverse and memorable meal. We had wine by the glass to match some of the courses; their sommelier was moderately helpful at matching wines, though each one either of us had was good unto itself. Consider this restaurant if you enjoy fine dining as a full experience.

Wonderful meal. Classic Italian with a modern twist. Highly recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing. Risotto was the best I have ever had. Very romantic. Service was outstanding. Michelin Star quality food.

Stunning place. Often this kind of very elaborate cuisine disappoints in Italy, but not in this case. We had a tasting menu of seven perfect and small dishes, all wonderful. Only the desert was slightly disappointing, a lemon cream that lacked flavor. Surprising, because the so called pre-dessert was one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten. They should just drop the dessert and end with the pre-dessert. Good service and nice atmosphere, lovely wine pairing as well. Expensive but for me well worth the money.

Incredible atmosphere, service and food.

This place definitely has an incredible level of service. Staff is very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. For example, when we asked to pick wine solutions for our order — every choice was spot on. Overall we felt very welcomed here.
Food itself was amazing, there wasn't a single position in our order that we didn't like. You can tell they're using high quality ingredients and know how to cook them right. Sets of appetizers and sweets were very well-thought and very well-served, too.
I'd say it was the best meal we had in a while.
Prices are pretty average for restaurants in this area and honestly we don't regret a single cent spent here.

Amazing dining experience - you order from the menu but they also bring out a course of canape tasters and another various different local breads and olive oil. Everything is locally sourced and the service was impeccable - they certainly deserve their michelin star

Best restaurant in the area by far. If you're looking for something a little bit special then this is it. Staff are very professional, knowledgeable and attentive, spoke excellent English, and it was easily the best service we received in a week in Italy. The restaurant is quiet, comfortable and a very pleasant setting for a meal.

As for the food itself - it is is outstanding. We ordered off the a la carte menu - I had octopus to start, the fish and chips was done to perfection and the creme brulee was delicious. I can't remember exactly what my wife had but I tried it and it was also excellent, in particular the pastry on her dessert. In addition to the 3 courses we ordered, there was a complimentary glass of prosecco to start, a tomato soup appetizer, a palate-cleaner of lemon sorbet before the dessert and petit fours afterwards - unexpected and very much appreciated (they were also delicious). For the amount of high-quality food and excellent service we received, €80 for 2 people felt like an absolute bargain.

In short, if you're in the area you should definitely book and go.

We had a great experience at Osteria 1861. The atmosphere inside is comfy, a great contrast of wood tables, stones and modern chairs. Service is good. Food is very good and refined.

This is one of those places which is so good you almost hope it stays a secret! The preaentation, the flavors and the clear pride of the kitchen is incredible. A great dining experience with flair but no pretension.

Italien cuisine at it best. We took the seven course and it was just delicious - Food, wine and service - everything perfect.

Osteria 1861 made our South Italy trip perfect. The dishes were the best we had the honor to enjoy on our trip.

Excellent service, food, and prices.
