Rifugio Sapienza

We visited here for lunch after visiting Mt Etna. There are 2 places to eat in the hotel: the first is a cafeteria, serving Nutella crepes, sandwiches, and more casual food through the day. The second is a pretty nice restaurant, which has regular lunch and dinner hours. The restaurant was fabulous. We ordered multiple dishes, and they were all very good. The eggplant ravioli with eggplant sauce was my favorite (photo attached). My only complaint was that the wine was served a bit warm. But this is a nice stop for a good lunch.

This is the Mt. Etna park near the top of the volcano. It is one southern part of the volcano less than an hour from downtown Catania. You must drive up here or take a tour to this place. The terrain is like a moonscape, and you can walk around and into several craters that were active at one time. There is a cable car that goes to the top, but today it was too windy to operate it.

We visited for some lunch and had a tomato and mozzarella cheese sandwich each. There were a few people in front of us and it was 1pm on a Monday. Sandwiches were delicious. The speed of service was a little slow and as in a lot of places on Sicily you were not acknowledged for a while. Great food though.

Perfect place to spend the day at the beach in Catania. It costs about 28€ for two chairs and an umbrella, but it's well worth it. The beach is super clean and not overly crowded. The onsite bar has a good menu and selection of drinks. The staff was also very friendly and quick to help us in English since we are not Italian. If you are visiting Catania, I highly recommend this beach club.

The base station for the cable car and keep trip up to Mount Etna, a wonderful experience and great choice of food, drinks and souvenirs.

We loved all about our stay in Rifugio! Room was very clean and comfortable, breakfast was delicious as well as food in the restaurant upstairs where we had dinner. The staff was helpful and hospitable. Location is just near small Etna craters and funicular. We also booked a tour through the hotel and received from them a very good lunch bag for picnic on Etna. All was great! Thanks again!

Great location for the final stop before getting closer to the crater.

Haven't uses the rooms but i am considering to go back and try them out. The people there are friendly and make you feel at home. The view is breathless!!

A great hotel with a superb view of the city below. The rooms are nice and the staff is pleasant. The food is great and served in big portions. But you will be hungry after the climb to the top and down again. The local wine is a must try. And the grilled menu as well. All in all a great place to visit.

This was our pitstop on the way up and down Etna. Good coffee and food such as pastries particularly a ham and cheese torta.

I lost my purse on the Quad safari... it was found by another tour...the lovely lady in the shop co-ordinated its return to me! How lucky was I! Thank you to everyone involved 🙂

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The room was clean and spacious, it had everything we needed. The view from the terrace is so beautiful! But the main thing is the restaurant ❤ It had the best food we tried on Sicily! As my husband and I both can’t eat gluten we even didn’t expected we would be able to try pizza or enjoy local sweets there. This restaurant has all gluten free options! We also enjoyed perfect cup of cappuccino in the morning along with gluten free bread and sweats. Highly recommended ❤🙏🏻✨

A most memorable experience. It was snowing like crazy. We went inside this restaurant and were welcomed by warmth from various heaters around an extended part with glass surroundings where we could still enjoy the spectacular scenery with a warm cup of beautiful chocolate and an arancina!

Great set up to start exploring Etna. Very well equipped and organized. The cable car wasn’t working so the busses were organized for interested.
Upon return from the all day hike, there is several restaurant options available and food is fresh and delicious.

Busy spot but very well stocked, delicious food to take up Etna the and surprisingly good prices for a such commercial spot. Good and friendly service too!

Great location, next to the funicular. We stayed two nights. Great room with two rooms for a family of 4 people. Perfect daily cleaning and delicious breakfasts. Friendly staff and a hearty dinner at the restaurant. All liked it.

Amazing experience and views from the summit of Mount Etna

We had a quick lunch at the restaurant there (on the first floor). The pizzas were so delicious and with a choice of great toppings. The tiramisu was quite yummy too.
