We stumbled upon this small barber shop the day before our charter departure. Genny was so awesome with kids and gave my son such a cool haircut that we decided to come back and get another one for my friend’s sons. If you happen to be in Pozzuoli and need to find a barber shop, this is THE place you should pick!

Being a foreigner and not speaking Italian, I was worried about finding a barber in the area. Gennaro was amazing replying to WhatsApp and confirming the appointment very fast.

Once there, it was a great experience. Genuine sympathy, great environment, great conversation, the language wasn’t even a barrier, and I was even offered a great Italian coffee!

The quality of the cut was incredible. One of the best cuts I’ve ever had. Faded on the sides and great scissor work on the top, will return every month during my stay in Pozzuoli .

First haircut in Italy and definitely will return to this amazing authentic barber shop. Geni is a great barber, but the crown jewel is il grandissimo signore Antonio!!!! It is a very welcoming place to enjoy good conversation while waiting to get a good haircut. Highly recommend!

I came here while on vacation, needing a haircut but worried about my inability to speak Italian. Unable to make a reservation over the phone due to the language barrier, I just showed up hoping for the best. Despite my objection for fear of coming off rude, Genny worked me into his lunch break and stayed open just to cut my hair. My haircut and beard trim was $25 but it was not a $25 cut. Genny’s meticulous attention to detail, charisma, and friendliness made it worth much more. He gave me the kind of cut you hope to get before a big event like a wedding. The whole thing was more of an experience than a haircut. With him only speaking very little english and me only speaking a lick of Italian, we got to know each other, made jokes that we both understood, and he gave me a perfect cut. He honestly knew more about my hair than I did. I’ve never met a barber who so quickly knew what to do with my hair like Genny. This was the best haircut I had ever received and I highly recommend coming here even if just to watch Genny do his work and have a chat. This is the hometown barber you hope to find. Also, these honest and pleasant interactions are the hard ones to find in the world and I was so appreciative of Genny to make me feel like family.

We just moved to Pozzuoli and in my search for a good hairdresser amongst many other things, I feel lucky to have come across La Barberia dal 1950, a modest, little barber shop that has been in business since 1950. It’s definitely not one of those flashy establishments that charge you an arm and a leg and make you pay for all the fancy lighting and the drama, but a true professional who has years and years of experience of giving you genuinely good haircuts. That being said, the place maybe small but is clean and hygienic and follows all Covid-necessary protocols. Genny, the hairdresser is a 50-year-old sweet, honest and hardworking professional. Despite being late in the day, I was happy to know that he accommodated my urgent request for a haircut the same evening I showed up, even though it meant for him working till 10pm. He is a good listener and understands what you really need. Also, he is quite talkative and has many interesting stories to share. Not only my entire experience was nice but I ended up getting one of the best haircuts in a long time. My wife can definitely approve of that :) I would vouch for Genny anytime and would recommend a visit to La Barberia dal 1950 to anyone in Pozzuoli.

I just moved to Naples from the US and was concerned I’d find a good place to cut my hair. I found La Barberia dal 1950 on Google and decided to give it a try, based on all the great reviews. I don’t speak English so I sent them a WhatsApp and translated it, asking for an appointment. Genny responded very quickly and told me to come on in. He treated me like family! Despite the language barrier, we had a long conversation about Italy, soccer, music, and life. During the haircut they brought me a frittata! It was a really fun time and I’ll absolutely be going back. I highly recommend this place to anybody in need of a phenomenal haircut.

I have been here twice and will come back for as long as I live here in Pozzuoli. My barber has been Genny and he has understand my hair type and the look I want. My hair cut is sharp and professional and was on time. The place is busy which means that they do a great job to have customers come back.

The atmosphere of the shop is great with friendly patrons. Everyone laughs and jokes and is inviting. Even though I do not speak italian, they include me in the jokes so I can laugh. They offer beverages to the patrons and I really enjoyed the menthol and almond milk drink.

I highly suggest you make this your place of haircut, regardless of being a local or tourist. Ask for Genny but all the other barbers have shown great work anyways.

I have difficult hair and I don't speak any Italian, but had a great experience here with Genny. Not only is it a relaxing, friendly environment but he'll get you looking right. Definitely recommend!

The best barber in town and the best haircut I have gotten in a long time! I am an American and barely speak any Italian, and they treated me like family. I highly recommend going to see Genny, Tony and Giuseppe at La Barberia dal 1950.

When you live in a foreign place its difficult to find a good barber you can trust. Dont settle for the barber on base, Genny makes me feel at home. I know that even with the language barrier he's going to understand exactly what I want. A true professional. He's friendly and warm and known by everyone in the area. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
