As all of his museums, this is a spectacular location, showcasing an impressive collection and artwork on mountain people.
It is fascinating to draw parallels between different cultures that are united by their life in mountainous regions.

I’ve visited this museum twice over the past few months and even the second time I discovered new things that I missed the first time - there really is so much to explore!! I’d say if you want to properly see and appreciate everything that this wonderful museum has to offer, you’ll need about 2.5 hours (maybe even more).

It’s so beautifully well laid out and as well as predominantly discussing the lives of mountain people around the world, there is also a section about the original use of the castle - the building has been really well-preserved. At the top of the tower, there are beautiful views to be seen of Bruneck and beyond!!

I shared more of this great exhibition on my review of the Brunek Castle…don’t miss this museum if you are in the area! What a great idea to have exhibits of mountain life in a castle nestle in the mountains!

Amazong mountain museum, the price is a bit expensive but reasonable (11€), because the castle Bruneck is very nice and exibitions are amazing. It is about mountain people from Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. There is also a small shop and nice meditation room. The view from the castle tower is also amazing (quielte.a few steps to the top, but it's worth it), you can see the city Bruneck and nearby mountains. I highly recommend it.

Wished we could have had more time here, on a bus tour, so limited on time. Lots to see, many nooks and crannies to explore, every corner brought you to another period of time and history.

Must visit exhibition! I liked Mr. Messner's messages in each section - great food for thoughts on mountain culture and humanity in general. The exposition is rich and attractive for new learning opportunities. It's nice that there's the good old book for visitors' reviews. I took the advantage to thank for including the Rhodope mountain culture. Don't miss the stunning view from the terrace on top of the tower!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit - you can easily spend several hours here. The castle itself is interesting, and it's nice to see both the very old original walls, and some well-fitting modern restorations / embellishments. It's a pretty walk up to it from the town centre. The exhibition in this museum (out of a total of 6 Messner mountain museums) is focussed on mountain people, so there are lots of artefacts showcasing the culture and way of life of such populations from all over the world. Genuinely new and educational to me. The castle also has a great little cafe / restaurant. The visit price of 9 Euros is well worth it, and if you are in the region for a while, the 35 Euro ticket for all museums, valid for a year, is brilliant value too.

This is a fascinating collection of cultural artifacts from a variety of high mountain civilizations. Messner was gifted these by governments of countries where he climbed and the assortment is incredible. The way they are displayed in this 1000+ year old castle is spectacular. So much to look at, make sure you give yourself enough time to appreciate the craftsmanship of everything. And take a jacket, it’s freezing inside!

Still struggling to find the words ...
This museum has a homecoming feeling for me. There is the respect for nature and the respect of the habitable zone - and pushing it beyond. The tolerance for strangers that enjoy their sport. And the wisdom that its habitable because of daring people that have a strong will and a vision. (Whether they know it or not) thank you rm.
