Delicious, fast paced great service

One of our best meals while in Tuscany. Enjoyed a caprese, wild boar tagliatelle, and beautiful steak with roast vegetables. Excellent wine selection.

The restaurant was recommended by a local friend. When we got there was a bit late, but still full of people inside and outside.

We ordered as usual some mixed plates for sharing. We have to say, the beef really impressed us. From the quality to the cooking was perfect.

We know we are in the right area to eat local meat, but this restaurant makes a difference from the rest.

Great restaurant in beautiful Castellina. Friendly staff and very good food. Especially the meat. Pleasant location on the main piazza. Took the ribollita as a starter which was great as well.

We are in Castellina for 2 nights and we came here for dinner for 2 nights. We truly loved this place! We had the Ferrari champagne, the pasta with porcini mushrooms, the roast pig with potatoes(Notes: the potatoes were so so so good!!!), and the chocolate lava cake for the first night. Literally everything was more than perfect!! Everything surprised us, the staff made you feel so welcomed and because we shared everything, they helped us divide the dishes and glasses which was very sweet! For the second night, again we had one glass of champagne to share, the pasta with duck sauce and Chianti herbs, the beef fillet with lard and mushrooms, a side dish of baked vegetables, and tiramisu for another perfect ending! They again divided the dishes into half, except the beef but another plate was given so no problem at all. We enjoyed everything. This was the best restaurant in Italy so far we’ve had( we’ve been to Naples, Capri, Bologna, Florence), highly highly recommended!!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!

This place is amazing! Every dish we has was flawless. The chicken thigh stuffed with mushrooms was very special, a must have! The fillet steak was so soft and the Vin Santo sauce perfectly balanced. Possibly best steak I've had in Europe. Tiramisu is the thick creamy type, very good. Highly recommend!

A really nice restaurant with excellent food. Started with a great Negroni. First dishes a bruschetta and an antipasto with truffle theme. Excellent. Then the cinghiale and the pig with the crispy side. Both extremely good. The crispy side was beyond crispy! Finished with cantuccini and vin Santo. Also great. Hope to be back next year

Very good authentic Tuscan food. We ate tagliata, pork, lamb and gnocchi. An prices are little lower than other similar places. I realy recomend this place! And also the old town scenery is nice.

We can really recommend this place. You need to reserve a table in the evening but it’s totally worth it. Typical Tuscan dishes and excellent quality of food at reasonable price. Next time we’re here we will come back.

Though not highlighted on the menu, this place serves great vegan dishes! Service was great, food was great and the wine of course was delicious if you like Chianti.
We tried the Pici with a tomato garlic sauce and the Tuscan vegetable stew. Both recommended!

Traveling through the Chianti area we came to this Osteria. Two nights in a row was worth it although there are plenty of choices in the vicinity.
The food is brilliant, tasty and fresh.
The service is amazing. Great people that help you with your choices and really take the time to share the greatness of Chianti. It is worth your time enjoying a great dinner!!

After being turned down by other three restaurants, I called Osteria Rosticceria II Re Gallo and they welcomed me with outstanding service and authentic food. Thank you! Highly recommended if you are in the area.

All I have to say is this place is PHENOMENAL. I used to write reviews as a living and be a food critic. I’m on my honeymoon so I’m not gonna go into detail but my husband and I ate here two nights in a row for dinner and it was our favorite meals of our 3 week trip… wish we could bring this gem back to California.
