Tenuta di Forte Sorgnano

Forte Sorgnano is an incredibly peaceful place to visit. Nestled in huge natural reserve, you are immersed in nature. On a hike through the woods, we saw both a porcupine and a wild boar, as well as wild hare. We’ve seen in some reviews that people complain about the road but it was perfectly fine to drive on. It’s made of hard packed rock and our car traversed easily. It’s absolutely worth the drive to get away from the packs of people visiting more touristy areas. All of the rooms are redone tastefully, it’s rustic but very very comfortable, the food served on site is both reasonably priced and superb and the owner interesting and kind.
In addition to being very family friendly, the refurbished Castle is a beautiful place for a wedding. Come visit. You won’t regret it!

We had our wedding here in August with 55 guests coming from the UK. It was absolutely perfect in every way and all of our guests had nothing but good things to say about Sorgnano. The wedding was from a Monday to a Friday, however the time flew by as everyone had a wonderful time.
The castle itself is the most incredible location for a wedding, regardless of the weather, and the food is to die for. When we went for our menu tasting back in April my eyes literally watered when I tasted the sliced angus. Aside from the wedding food, the breakfast, lunch and the buffet dinner (we requested this) were incredible and the portions were huge, nobody was ever left wanting.
Marco and his staff were wonderful hosts and made us and our guests feel at home the entire time. I can't thank them all enough and my wife and I will never forget our wedding week.

I had my wedding here. Gorgeous location, very accommodating staff, clean, rustic and simple rooms that make you feel comfortable and relaxed. All of my guests were raving about the location.

We booked our wedding-weekend with Marco at Tenuta di Forte Sorgnano, and we could not have been happier, or more satisfied with our decision! Marco is incredibly serviceminded, and we did'nt have one issue during our stay. The location was perfect for us and our guests since we had the whole place to ourselves. Beautiful, peaceful, incredible surroundings! We loved every second, and the service during our wedding was impecable! Great food, nice staff, and an incredible stay at the castle as well! Marco made our weekend special in every way, and we will definitely come to visit again in the future! Grazie mille!

A beautiful place down a windy dirt road that puts you in tranquil seclusion.

It's not a luxurious place, but what it occasionally lacks in polish it more than makes up for with friendly service and a restful and enjoyable atmosphere.

The owner (Marco) is present, engaged in the operation of the place and actively working to refine and improve aspects of the property that need a little tlc. I would definitely go back and spend another week resting and enjoying Umbria.

We also got some really helpful tips from Marco on places to see in the area as well as practical guidance on how to navigate opening hours in the region while traveling with kids.

I think this is a wonderful spot that will only improve with time.

We had a romantic and relaxing stay in Forte Sorgnano. Marco is a great host and enriched our stay with his kindness and hospitality. I also bought a bottle of his homemade honey as it was super tasty and we got to go for a spree around the olive trees to search for wild asparagus. The location is breathtaking and the renewed castle magical. Its definitely worth a trip!!

We stayed over a long weekend with our friends and family for our wedding and had the most incredible time. The food and views are outstanding and Marco and the staff really treat you like family.

Would highly recommend for an event or just to relax in the hills.

I cannot say enough good things about Forte Sorgnano! Marco was the perfect host - he was very attentive and kind making us feel so very welcome at this beautiful, family run agriturismo. He greeted us on our arrival and right away served us aperitivos on the patio looking out over the gorgeous property with olive orchards in every direction and the forte on the hill. (Yes, there is a little bar!).
Our apartment was perfect for our family - my husband and I, my brother and his 17 year old son and my 78 year old mother. We loved the breakfast buffet and dinner in the restaurant and the pool was fabulous after a day of exploring Umbria. (Note: it is a bumpy road in but SO worth it! Be ready to drive about 45-50 minutes to the towns of Umbria - again, SO worth it! So scenic as well)

Two things you MUST do when you stay:
1. Book a cooking class! We love ours! We learned to make different types of bread and pasta. The chef that taught us was amazing and Angela, who translated, gave us all the background and history of the foods we were creating and eating. It was so much fun - and delicious!
2. Have dinner at the forte on a Sunday evening. It was the most magical meal I have ever had. Every Sunday evening they create the most beautiful setting for delicious, memorable meal. You MUST include this in your stay.

Last note - book your wedding here! What an incredible venue! It is also amazing for young kids - lots to do on site!

SOno stata la fotografa di un piccolo matrimonio qui in questa splendida location e , che dire, un gioiello incastonato tra un panorama mozzafiato, il silenzio della natura e una distesa di stelle .

Il posto è stupendo, ma l’accoglienza è la
gentilezza di Marco il proprietario, e il suo staff sono impagabili, sono davvero carinissimi.

Samen met ons kleintje van 16 maanden hebben wij een geweldig verblijf gehad bij Forte Signano. De host deed er alles aan om het ons naar onze zin te maken. Het zwembad was heerlijk verkoelend, het eten smaakvol en de omgeving prachtig. Er zijn verschillende activiteiten die je kunt doen (Ping Pong, midgetgolf, wandelen naar de waterval/fort) en voor ons kleintje was er een mini kids corner. De diners bij het fort waren romantisch en zijn zeker de moeite waard om te doen wanneer je in dit mooie verblijf bent. Zeker een aanrader en wij komen nog eens terug.
