Possibly an extension of the Roman forum, structures originating from the early 2nd century, almost 1,800 years old. Totally worth a visit. Actually you do not have to enter, you can see the whole region from the street itself.

Very nice area that you can see from the top of the street.
In the night, the scene changed quite a lot as lots of bats will go out for a fly hunt.
It is a must see for sure and it is included also in the colosseum and foro romano ticket.

This is one of the most beautiful historical sites for ancient ruins in Rome. It’s still in fairly decent condition, it’s fairly large with lots to see. It has a museum you can visit for a fee and you can explore the grounds during the day time. It’s also very nice to walk by at night and see everything lit up. I always enjoy this area as there’s so much to see and do. I would definitely recommend visiting Trajan’s Forum and the market close by.

Trajan’s forum is exactly why I love Rome. I had no idea this was here and was just wandering around talking on the phone, rounded the corner, and here it was. I didn’t see this during the daytime, only at night, and as you can see from my pics, it’s beyond breathtaking to see. By far some of my favorite happy accidental ruins I came across.

Incredible monument and a work of art. It shows the most important events in the life of Traian. Not only beautiful during the day but also very will lit during the night, definitely worth a visit.

We booked tickets for Viaggio nei Fori, which takes place nightly at Foro di Traiano during the summer months. It was a magnificent experience, perfect as a family activity suitable for children over 7-8 years old. Visiting the fori at night is a completely different experience than visiting them during the day. The light projections are carefully designed and result amusing. During the show, you are transported to Rome’s days of Glory, and then slowly brought back to present day ruins. Try not to miss it!

All these mega-historical, ancient forums of Rome are shocking with their grandeur. Yes, they are basically turned into ruins, but when you come close, stare and look around, the imagination very quickly restores this couple of hundred square meters in front of the mind's eye, restores it the way we always imagined such places. That is, bewitching, majestic and beautiful with classical buildings.

Excellent site for ruins and history with no long lines and in plain view. Great vantage point to view ruins and history.

This place is amazing! As a self proclaimed history nerd this was a bucket list item checked off. I highly recommend going with part of an organized tour of you don't know how the lines work. We saved waiting through a line that was thousands of people long. We would have been there for hours just to get in without and the tour itself was enjoyable. After the tour we just stayed inside and explored. Wear good walking shoes. It is lots of walking on uneven ground and lots of stairs.

The heart of Roman Rome. Thanks to the papal museum guide, "the destruction you see was caused by subseguent Roamns (emperors or popes) not by invaders." Wah.

These pics include walking sites to surrounding areas. I took tour that included the colosseum and areas around there so it all blended in. These are literally walking distance from one another. Wear comfy shoes. Enjoy. This tour was incredible.

Included in ticket to see Roman Forum and Pallentine Hill (we skipped the crowded Collessium). The ticket office here at Trajan Forum had no queue and didn't charge us a convenience fee like the online website would have. A route with marker signs leads you through to the Senate building and Roman forums after a walk through the basements of historic 16th century houses demolished by a fascist to create a road.

Trajan's Forum was the last of the Imperial fora to be constructed in ancient Rome. The architect was Apollodorus of Damascus.

Nice monument. The column of Traian was erected to remember the conquest of the area situated north to Danube river - Dacia, populated by the dacian tribes (a kind of Traian ones), ruled by king Decebal at that time.
