This place gets 10/10

After endless research of where to stay on the Amalfi we decided on the Hotel Antica Repubblica. The online reviews had showed it’s only a 3 star hotel but let me tell you my stay there was nothing short of incredible. Christian went above and beyond to help accommodate anything we requested, helped set up our itinerary including an absolute MUST do- Amalfi coast boat tour.
The rooms were a good size , clean , and whenever asked for something was brought to the room within minutes.

The location was absolutely perfect. Right off the main strip without the crowds or noise but able to overlook the main strip.

The amalfi port was very accessible which made day trips very easy!

Highly recommend this as a base hotel for your trip to Amalfi.

My husband and I stayed in Christian’s apartment he offers through his hotel for our honeymoon and we had the best experience ever!! Being from the US and traveling all that way can be a little nerve racking as you never know the experience you may have, however, Christian and all his staff made us feel right at home! Not only did he throughly explain Amalfi and all the nearby coast has to offer, he also helped us navigate the ferries, buses, and more! This place is also located perfectly in all the action and the complimentary breakfast was delicious every morning! We hope to return soon as I would gladly climb 90+ steps to stay in Christian’s place again!!

This was a perfectly located hotel and has all you could need for your stay. Rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. Christian was super helpful upon arrival and throughout our whole stay and had a bunch of great recommendations for the area. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Hotel Antica Repubblica is a charming hotel in the heart of Amalfi. We stayed in an apartment -ANNALU'. Christiano was very kind and easy to communicate with. We kept in touch on WhatsApp the whole trip and he answered me back, always quickly with excellent information. He went out of his way to book us a last minute ride from the airport due to United Airlines screwing us over (but that’s a different story) and missing our scheduled transfer. The transportation company was unable to come because they had another trip booked with someone else at the time we arrived. But Christiano saved the day. He sent Silvio (not sure from which company) and Silvio was AWESOME! He was fun and entertained us all the way there with stories and information. We also stopped for the best lemon ice in Italy at this adorable side stand. When we arrived in Amalfi, we were in the main circle where the small busses operate from. Christiano was there, waiting and helped us to our hotel through the bumpy road in Amalfi. We got checked in and he gave us a map for reference. The next part was a little tough- it is 90 steps from the check in. And I don’t mean 90 paces, I mean 90 stairs. It does specify this in the description, but I had no idea how difficult it would be with 5 of us and our giant suitcases. So please be aware of this if you have any mobility issues. The apartment was beautiful and cool (temperature cool). Considering it was scorching outside, this was a very nice welcoming. The AC was able to get very cold and keep us cool when we would come in, sweating our faces off (hot tip (no pun intended)- don’t go in July, try the spring). The apartment had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a nice sitting area, a small kitchen with fridge and microwave, and a beautiful terrace with a partial sea view. The better view for us was of the gorgeous church tower. And we loved the church bells that played throughout the day. Every morning, Christiano and one of the other staff would prepare a beautiful spread on the rooftop of the hotel. I was lazy for a couple of days and didn’t go, but Christiano insisted that my husband bring me a cappuccino those days and he made one up for him to bring to me. ❤❤ We very much enjoyed our time in Amalfi and Christiano made it wonderful for us. First, the hotel owner/manager worked so hard to please us in every way—totally service oriented and just a nice guy. The hotel is a gem. Beautiful, quaint, artful (there was an actual mural on the wall above the bed). Wonderfully situated on the Main Street, but quiet, comfortable and felt luxurious (try the chromo therapy shower 😁). Only thing: be prepared for lots of stairs. You need good knees and hips to get to breakfast in the rooftop. It overlooks the Main Street and distant cliffs while swallows circle above. Jasmine and flowers everywhere and a fabulous spread of homemade pastries, local grown fruit, fresh squeezed juice, eggs, fried mortadella/bacon. Very good service. If you’re American, order cafe Americano GRANDE. No non-dairy options. Call ahead so they open the garage for you—it’s under the building at street level. Tight narrow streets, stone walls, no places to turn around if you get lost. Paid parking garage at end of street and by the traffic circle (more expensive). Tiny blue sign to mark hotel. Look up!

Simple, clean, and well priced hotel in Amalfi. Christian was so helpful and made us feel right at home, even though we were only there for one night. He let us store 6 bags with him while we went out exploring the next day. A nice rooftop breakfast with beautiful views. Would stay here again!

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Antica Repubblica for part of our honeymoon and it was a wonderful time! It was in the perfect location easy to get everywhere from, the host, Christian, was so helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.

Hotel Antica Repubbica offers so many elements that make it a grand place...it is difficult to know where to begin.

A large room, separate bathroom and shower (a large shower), lots of bathroom counter space, large bath towel, large hand towels, and not only a washcloth but also a large one!

Add to these a simple to operate air conditioning unit, a wonderful desk with chair, refrigerator and freezer, large wardrobe with safe, and breakfast served on the rooftop with a glorious view of the cliffs and mountains.... Antica Repubbica is a great find.

A 5-minute walk from the marina and SITA bus stop, depending on the density of the crowd around the pier and in Piazza del Duomo and its immediate environs, the hotel sits back off the high street so feels secluded but just down a staircase guests have the main street of Amalfi with all it offers. Next door to Antica Repubbica is Pasticceria Caffetteria Leone--a must-visit pasticceria--and a minute away going up the high street is Bar Della Valle, a ristorante with excellent food. Try their fresh-grilled vegetable plate, which includes eggplant, zucchini, sweet peppers, and mozzarella cheese. So fantastico I had lunch there twice. The aforementioned with a glass of Martini Bianco on ice made for a refreshing afternoon.

Last but not least Christian is welcoming, full of charm, and ready to offer suggestions and provide directions. I was originally booked for two nights but with his assistance was able to leave my previous stay in another city a day early and head to Amalfi, and I'm so grateful I did.

We stayed for one night and really enjoyed. Christian welcomed us very warmly and gave us all the tips we needed to enjoy Amalfi. Coming in Amalfi by car is difficult, but we talked with Christian on whatsapp and he took care of our car directly in front of the hotel in the main street : great service, even if you pay 25€ for it.
The room was clean, and the breakfast on the rooftop was perfect.

The location is perfect, right in the centre of Amalfi! Communication with the manager was great and the staff was really helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. My favourite was the rooftop terrace with a stunning view. Would return to this place anytime!

Great hotel, with a very good location right in the city center. Breakfast was very good, with a nice variety of sweet and savoury. Cristian is a very nice person, and he will help you with everything you need, including finding the best transportation method for you. Highly recommended

We absolutely loved our time in Amalfi! Thanks to the absolute amazing staff! Christian was amazing before and during our stay! The staff did a wonderful job with our laundry and breakfast daily! We can’t wait to go back soon! Thanks again Antica Repubblica staff!!!!

This hotel was a fantastic find. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable (and believe me, I'm picky about temperature, space and comfort) and well appointed.The location is almost unbeatable. Overall I couldn't recommended this place enough.
