Palace Hotel

We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights. On arrival with the reception team we were made to feel very welcome and a pianist was performing music from Puccini. We knew from that moment we would enjoy our time at the hotel. A welcome bottle of fizz was waiting in our room from the team and was a nice touch. Walking around the hotel is just like walking through rooms full of elegance and art. The staff were all very welcoming at breakfast and helped us with information we needed to enjoy our stay in the Viareggio and Lucca region. To complete our stay we had a fantastic sunset meal on the roof top terrace. We hope to return to the Palace again and will definitely be booking the restaurant one again. Thank you all the staff for making this holiday very, very special.

My friend and I enjoyed our 5 day holiday break. It was amazing. Hotel was top for us. Nothing nicer than a beautiful a very clean superior room, with a beautiful sea view and lift for 3rd floor, mini bar and safe in the room. Julian and other receptionists were ALWAYS kind and helpful.
The breakfast room was top nosh breakfast, there was a large variety to pick from.
The staff were very pleasant and attentive.
To the Lido "La Pace" there's a pool, you cross the road opposite the hotel and can use both amenities but this is not included in the hotel price, as there is a surcharge.
Everything was perfect and would return to this hotel and recommend.

Excellent hotel. From the moment I entered the Palace Hotel to check out everyone, no matter their role, were professional. My room was all I needed with an excellent large bathroom. Breakfast is in a beautiful large room with as much choice as you could want. Enjoying the evening sunsets on the terrace with quality drinks and meals served by the nicest people was memorable and just one of the reasons I will return. Everyone made my stay relaxing and hassle free and an extra thanks to Gabriella for your help and advice during our chats after my breakfast.

We returned to the Palace Hotel for a second time and really enjoyed our stay. The staff are wonderful. The breakfast staff are very warm and helpful. We loved the restaurant on the terrace with its fabulous sea views. The staff are very engaged, helpful and create a great atmosphere. The beach cafe is run by a family who also do lunch and drinks! It was heaven. The hotel is in an ideal location. We are going back again next year. Recommend highly.

We cannot fault this hotel we had an amazing stay.The reception staff are extremely helpful ,speak good English and always have a warm greeting at any time of the day.
Breakfast choice was amazing and caters for absolutely all tastes hot,cold and always clean ,constantly being refilled and extremely courteous staff.
We had half board ,the menu was changed every 3/4 days and there was plenty of choice and if you needed extra’s eg vegetables it was always possible.The food itself was very good quality,perfect size portions and beautifully presented .The chef’s are trained to a very high standard and we compliment them for making our breakfasts and evening meals a pleasure.
The wine menu’s are extensive ,good quality and reasonably priced.
All the staff are attentive,professional,courteous and a credit to the hotel and owners.

Really lovely hotel- wonderful friendly reception received when we arrived from Gianluca (so nice after a days travelling) ….and great service given throughout the stay…(notably Gabriella who always gave us a lovely friendly welcome to breakfast each day).
Our room was was really comfortable and had been exceptionally well restored, giving a feel of classic historical features whilst all modern day comforts…Food in the hotel was excellent - choice at breakfast was extensive and high quality- the terrace restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and wonderful views of evening sunsets, with food prices only marginally more expensive than the local restaurants. On a separate note most restaurants seem sea food focused (not so good for us mainly non fish eaters).

The only frustration with the location (and not a lot to do with the hotel) is access to the beach…Viareggio is a resort where it seems you are unable to access the beach at all without going through one of the numerous independent beach clubs at a cost of between €30/day (for umbrella and 2 deck chairs) and €50/day (for umbrella and 2 sun loungers) in the case of the club ‘linked’ to the hotel.(Others similar) The club doesn’t offer any discount for hotel guests (but allows access to a small pool free of charge ) …this charge we felt was excessive and adds significantly to the holiday cost….In most other resorts we have been to there has either been free access to the beach via hotel’s own area or much lower cost umbrella/sunbed hire…however, we were here to visit the area, not primarily sit on the beach, so we weren’t affected too much.

The train station is about a 15 minute walk with good links to Pisa, Lucca, La Spezia and the Cinqueterre, Florence etc, so the hotel is a good base for exploring beautiful Tuscany.

Beautiful hotel, romantic, veeery clean with confortable beds, decorated in amazing art nouveau style. The breakfast is one of a kind, very diversified. Gabriela made sure everything was prrfect in our holiday , so polite, ready to help, on my husband's bday she surprised us with a mini cake singing him happy birthday :)

I loved this traditional Italian hotel. The staff were outstanding from the minute I booked. The front desk managers, Gianluca and eduardo, Francesca and others could not have been more helpful and enthusiastic. They are proud to work in The Palace. I loved the location. Rooms to street a little noisy but with very high ceilings, decent beds and a modern clean bathroom. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice and abundant fruit and luxury item.Would strongly recommend The Palace Hotel. I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels in other parts of Italy and Sardinia and this is the first time I would say I loved this place.

The Palace is a wonderful hotel; it is located near to the beach, shops and train station. The staff are excellent and the breakfast was lovely. We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely recommend the Palace Hotel to anyone considering a holiday in Viareggio.

Best hotel to stay at in Viareggio. Very comfy beds, very good breakfast. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very historical and is in a very good shape. Will definitely come back one day =)

From the moment I booked until I left I felt nothing but comfort!

I don't understand how a traveler can complain that the staff doesn't speak English?! In addition, Francesca, for example, speaks excellent German (although I tried to reactivate my rusty Italian ;) ). The hotel is beautiful, the rooms have class and every comfort. The roof terrace is beautiful and the service, as in the entire hotel, is so friendly and anything but fake.
The cuisine is outstanding and the breakfast is unusually not Italian, it is sensational!

52 years ago I was in Via Flavio Gioia for the first time, at my aunts Pensione Liane. The Hotel Palace was already there, I hope that I can stay more often in the future.

Great hotel, in a central location, easy walk to train station, restaurants and nearby park. Breakfast service was excellent, Gabriella looked after our family during the stay, thank you for the exceptional service.

Our room was clean.
Edwardo Senior was a true gentleman. He personally showed us around the hotel and the roof top area and he was always pleasant.

Great location, friendly staff, and spacious and comfortable room/apartment for a family trip. Enjoyed our stay, the service helped us feel right at home. Great.

A great little hotel. I stay here every time I’m in Viareggio. The staff is always courteous and accommodating and the buffet breakfast is excellent!

Rooms are lovely and clean. Staff is excellent and made sure we were well taken care of.

We celebrated a special occasion at this hotel and the place /staff were amazing. Gianluca was a gentleman. Amazing views from the terrace.

Everything was amazing! All the staff were very kind, helpful and professional, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and rooms were outstanding, spotlessly clean and very welcoming. The breakfast was incredible, a very wide choice and it was all delicious. Our dinner at the rooftop terrace was equally as good. We highly recommend it and will be back next year!!
