Cooking Sicily

We had a wonderful experience at Deborah's house. She was so warm and welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious (and lots of it)! We felt immersed into a Sicilian home for the evening and her cooking was on par with a high quality restaurant - very fresh ingredients in well-prepared dishes. After the 5-course meal she sat with us and answered our questions and shared her recipes. Highly recommend!

I am delighted from the cooking Sicily lesson. Deborath shared with us some secret procedures that are essential for good cooking results. She also considered our wishes, in my case I didn' t know how to prepare carciuffi at all. I learned to know Sarah from Germany who took me to the most southern point of Siciliy with her car. It was very nice, that the whole family helped in the kitchen. Deborath has a perfect equipped kitchen and dining room.

Having the opportunity to step inside a Sicilian person’s home felt like a truly authentic travel experience.
We were given great menu options before we got to cooking. The meal was utterly delicious and we got to enjoy it in a beautiful and charming setting.
This was the last night of our travel in Sicily and we couldn’t have asked for a better way of spending the evening.

Possibly THE cooking experience in Catania. Lovely setting in an amazing house and obviously Deb is an unbelievable host. It's so cool to learn how to cook like a local and using delicious ingredients from the area. We had such an amazing evening and can 100% recommend. Amazing experience. Best meal we had in Sicily and great to learn some cooking techniques and local recipes. We made pasta Alla Norma, eggplant parmesan, salt sea bass and Sicilian style tiramisu ;)

A wonderful experience learning traditional Sicilian dishes and techniques. Deborah serves hospitality from the moment one walks through her door. The flavors were delicious and the knowledge priceless.

We Head a really lovely evening with Deborah! The cooking class was an unique experience. Deborah made us cook very tasty dishes and created a warm and familiar atmosphere.

We had an amazing time learning how to make Tiramisu, caponata, and vegetarian lasagna with Deborah. The experience was very well organised and we got the opportunity to sit down and taste it all with Sicilian wine. I would highly recommend a cooking class with Cooking Sicily. Deborah was very accommodating and let us bring our luggage to the class and even gave us a ride to the airport as she was also heading there!!

I had a wonderful time learning from Devorah at cooking Sicily! We made pasta allá norma, fennel salad and falafel. Her home is a warm environment and I enjoyed my experience very much!

I took a class with Deborah and loved it. We were welcomed into a stunningly beautiful Sicilian home and began our class by being invited to have a glass of water and hear an overview while seated on a lovely patio adorned with plants. Then, each of us received an apron and work station around the table, and given tasks to begin to prepare our meal. Deborah provided the right amount of instruction for the more and less experienced cooks. The descriptions of how to prepare each course were very helpful and clear. We were able to enjoy the meal we prepared with Deborah's guidance on the patio, with delicious wine. We were also given some amazing cookies made by Deborah's family. We were able to customize the meal for specific dietary needs within the group but nobody missed anything as it was a perfect meal! Not only is Deborah an excellent instructor but she is also a wonderful and interesting person. An excellent way to spend an evening and learn more about Sicilian food!

Incredible experience. I’ve taken at least six classes from here over four years. They’re my favorite cooking classes ever! Deborah is so professional and kind, I would rate this higher if I could. Worth every penny.

Had an amazing time at Deborah’s cooking class. Not only was the food fantastic but she is so warm and welcoming and creates a fun atmosphere. She does not have pre fixed menus and presents you with many options on what you want to cook (very accommodating for food restrictions). She is an incredible teacher and would recommend this class to anybody looking for something fun to do for dinner while in Catania.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful evening at Deborah’s cooking class. We made delicious food in a beautiful and friendly environment. Our kids (8 and 10 years old) were fully engaged and loved learning new things about Sicilian cooking. Deb even got them eating eggplant which I think is a first!

I would not hesitate to recommend Cooking Sicily to anyone, regardless of age or cooking ability. Next time we’re in Sicily will absolutely do another class. Thanks again Deb for your warm hospitality.

Deborah is a helpful, kind and personable teacher. An experienced chef and host, she delivers the cooking class with both finesse and warmth. The space itself adds to the overall immersive experience of Sicilian food by cooking in an authentic Catanian home and kitchen. I would recommend to everyone: food lovers and total beginners alike!

Deborah's cooking class is top tier. She opens her home to her guests and provides the best ingredients and true Sicilian recipes. By far one of my favorite cooking experiences in all of Italy, and I make sure to bring all of my visitors straight to Deborah! Living here I already did the course at least 7 or 8 times and I still learn something new every time, Deborah has a huge repertoire of regional dishes to choose from, the typical must-dos (which are better and more authentic than if you'd eat them in a restaurant) and some with her own twist, like a more summery version of the traditional lasagna for example. Her home and kitchen are super nice and provide the best atmosphere and I met a lot of really nice and interesting people that attended the courses with me. For tourists it's the perfect opportunity to get an insight in a real Sicilian home and kitchen and the authentic way of cooking, and I'm sure there's also a lot to learn for locals who are not that experienced with cooking regional dishes

Fantastic cooking class! If you are looking for a cooking class in Catania then i highly recommend Cooking Sicily. Deborah was an amazing host who welcomed us into her amazing home for this cooking class. It was very authentic and we used local ingredients to make a pasta dish (Vegetarian Lasagne), a Tiramasu and Caponata. Deborah was very flexible and even let us start the class earlier then usual as we were flying out later that evening. She even let us bring our luggage with us to the class and also gave us a ride to the airport as she was already going there. This just shows how great a person she really is!
