Visiting Mount Etna is an incredible experience, offering breathtaking views and a fascinating glimpse into the power of nature. The buses and cable cars make it easy to explore the volcano without having to hike extensively, which is a big plus. The cooler temperatures at the higher elevations provide a refreshing break from the heat, making the visit even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was finding unique volcanic rocks that make for great souvenirs. Overall, Mount Etna is a must-see destination and highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

It was very fun. We took the cable car to 2500m and then the bus to 2900. We then went on a short tour saw different crates and very interesting terrain. We picked up rocks for souvenirs. We couldn’t go to the top because Etna recently had an eruption. It is very fun to walk around because the rocks crunch under your feet.

Best experience I have had. I have never been on an active volcano before. I have been on Vesuvius before but this is totally different. The landscape is mars like, and Etna is extremely massive. I would say that if you are in ok/good condition then just walk to the 2500 meter point and don't take the gondola. You will save 50€.

We had an amazing experience hiking through Mt. Etna landscape. The vast expanse of the volcanic area, to tred upon the lava rocks, discovering the bright ladybugs amidst the rugged rock formations, at the height we had the strong wind pushing us around...an experience of a lifetime! The hike is a little difficult if you are not a regular hiker, but manageable with a slow pace. Highly recommend. 🐞 🌋 ❤

Amazing place and well worth a visit. We were lucky enough to see Etna erupting while we were there. A real wonder of the world. Amazing!

When we visited, we went on a planned coach trip up to Mt Etna's base camp from which we had the opportunity to go to the summit on a cable car ride followed by a jeep ride with the Alpine Guides. However, if you are like us and aren't too fussed about the top, then you can explore the various trails spanning across the National Park and all sorts of different altitudes. It certainly was a breathtaking trip, and if you are in the area, it is worth the time going as it could be a once in a lifetime experience.

Incredible experience a must do if you visit Catania and Sicily. We had booked a guided tour with wine tasting and caves with a local guide.

Top of the Top!

Today, we explored Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano, with a breathtaking cable car ride. The impressive landscape and the majestic presence of the volcano left us deeply impressed.
The view from the summit of Mount Etna is simply breathtaking. The combination of rugged lava fields and snow-capped peaks is a sight not easily forgotten.
The cable car ride imparts a sense of adventure and excitement. Mount Etna is a place that appeals not only to nature enthusiasts but also to those seeking an adventurous experience.

Due to its high altitude, the weather can change rapidly. It is advisable to be well-prepared and keep an eye on the weather forecast.

The opening hours of the cable car may vary depending on the season. It is advisable to check in advance whether Mount Etna is accessible at the desired time.

I recommend using a warm head because it can get very stormy up on the top. A guide makes sense if you want to see more than the normal road for your safety not guided stay on the road because a volcano is no playground!

I wish we had more time here but our tour only allowed about 90min. That said there is a very easy to walk spot where we stopped to see the craters left by lateral vents from previous eruptions. But I easily could have spent half a day. There is an enclosed ski lift style gondola that goes up the mountainside that looked like fun.

Obviously anytime you are talking about an attraction like this at a higher altitude (we were at about 7000ft above sea level) weather needs to be a consideration. It was a bit chilly (mid 40s Fahrenheit) on a sunny day in mid April. But the entire top of the mountain was shrouded in clouds the entire following day and the day after that it was clear that there had been significant snowfall.

Our first tome climbing and seeing volcano 🌋 it was a crazy expirience, especially because it was cloudy :( but on a clear day you can see whole city of Catania, the beach, sea. It was AMAZING. You are around 3000-3200m high up and you'll hear explosions sometimes, but it's pretty safely to be there. The park is made very nicely, you have even a restaursmt I believe, many, many souvenir shops that make cool designs from cooled magma 😁 and the whole place is covered in dried magma, like black sand. Pretty strong wind, normal, considering you're around 3000m up 🥶 you have amazing activities as well, people hiking around volcano as well, and the city is literally half hour drive from here down. Pretty close, amazing view and undescribable and speechless expirience ✌🏻🌋 all recommendations for hiking, having fun and enjoying nature, learning something more from history and culture! 🫶🏼 But first, check for nice, sunny day 😁

No words nor photos can show you how big Etna is. The tallest volcano in Europe, its highly active all the time. Symbol of Sicily, absolutely must-see. Above 2950 meters above sea level (the place where 4x4 buses stop) you are allowed to go only with certified guides.

Wonderful to see the volcano, along with 10,000 other tourists!

Once-in-a-lifetime experience. Went there with my family (4 people, kids free). To get to the very top was around 70€ per person. As that was a little out of our budget, we just took the cable cart (50€ per person) which went high enough. Definitely something unique and enchanting. If you've never visited a volcano, it's a must to go there, while you're in Sicily!🌋

Breathtaking ! The highest volcano mountain in Europe. When you getting closer you slowly understand the unbelievable beauty of this place. It’s unlike other mountains that I saw. The volcano and the eruptions over the years cause the soil, the plants and the landscape to be different. Looks like mars.. Its so special. The land in the area is very fertile and there are thousands of dunams of pistachio crops.

Don’t miss this mountain!

Amazing place, definitely a unique experience. You can be a witness of the true force of nature. We booked a guided tour with GO Etna (best tour I ever had) and explored it for half a day, hearing Etna errupt every hour. If you are in Catania (not that interesting city), you need to spend a day here and this will be the highlight of your trip.

Amazing park and all villages around... You go up there by cablecar and if you want summit and weather is good and volcano is in sleep mode you take local guide and go up by foot... We were in one cave that was created in one big eruption... ... All recommendations for visit and take some nice pictures and videos 👌

Amazing place. A few recommendations when hiking at around 2,500m - a jumper/trousers are useful, it can get cold. High socks and tight shoes can help reduce the amount of stones in your shoe. You can enter the park for free. Many tours offer 4x4 transport, but you don't need it.

Easy to reach without the need for extensive guidance/ tours. Shops, toilets and restaurants sourround the big parking lot from which you can hike to the top or take the cable cars. Summit was sadly closed due to the continuous eruptions. Nevertheless scenic view. Keep in mind that it is cold on top!
