Small room made of beautiful frescoes of 12 apostles and other Biblical figures. The whole story is perfectly described right there in 4 languages (English, Italian, French and German which was very useful). You have 5 minutes to enjoy the art, which was absolutely enough. There were many people at the same time, which was a little less comfortable but I could enjoy my experience however. I recommend visiting it together with other 4 popular monuments in Ravenna with 9,5€ ticket. (Which you can also book online, or in the ticket office right in the museum near).

It is so difficult to explain the majesty of this place, the colours, and the breathtaking artistry. So many small details, intricate patterns, and vivid emotions; truly a testament to the richness of the early Christian art.

I really enjoyed the visit. This 5th-century UNESCO World Heritage site features breathtaking mosaics that are incredibly well-preserved. The intricate artwork in the dome is particularly stunning. It can get quite hot inside durung summer. You have to book online for a 10 minute visit slot because it is small and limited space for a lot of visitors.

This place is beautiful, all the mosaics on the ceiling are spectacular!!
It can get very crowded as it is not that big. We were allowed to take pictures and we could also stayed as long as we wanted. It was included on the ticket you buy to access the main sites in the town.

Third location on the Basilica di San Vitale ticket which needs a few minutes’ walk from there.
Octagonal structure with baptism tub and some missed designed on the wall. The most interesting part is painting of baptism over the tub.

True feeling of Christian history here. And a naked Jesus. In mosaics. Just...wow.

So much lavish detail in the decorations and faces of the apostles. Most astonishing was the illusion of the apostles dancing as you look up at the dome. You walk in a circular motion and the stance of the figures and fabric of the tunics is in motion. It is so full of joy!

Beautiful expression of the Byzantine art. The dome is decorated with splendid mosaics and the lower walls with colorful marble. Built in the 5th century in times of Gala Placidia.

A small, intimate space with a coherent and stunning decorative scheme. Over the centuries the floor has been raised 3 metres and as a result you really feel close the the mosaics!

Impressive mosaics right next to the centre of Ravenna. You should book tickets online, it's faster that way.

The Battistero Neoniano in Ravenna is a stunning example of early Christian architecture. The octagonal structure boasts intricate mosaics that depict scenes from the Bible and ancient Christian traditions. The most unique feature, however, is the ancient marble floor that dates back to the 5th century, making it one of the oldest Christian mosaics in the world. It's a must-see for anyone visiting Ravenna.

Among the great beauties of Ravenna is certainly Battistero Neoniano (Battistero degli Ortodossi). Wonderful place with significant value both historical and artistic. Battistero Neoniano is one of the oldest monuments in Ravenna. It was built in the early 5th century by the will of Bishop Urso. In the following period, significant restoration works were carried out by Bishop Neone (450 - 475), the complete renovation of the dome and the realization of the interior decoration that today embellished the interior of the Baptistery. It was built in the octagonal shape and made of brick. The interior of the Baptistery is breathtaking with its beauty it is divided into two orders of superimposed arches, offering a very rich decoration divided into three parts: marble in the lower part, stuccos in the intermediate area and mosaics in the upper one with a clear Hellenistic-Roman imprint. At the center of the dome, a large medallion contains the scene of the baptism of Christ, immersed in the waters of the Jordan River which is the oldest testimony of a scene of the baptism of Christ made in mosaic in a monumental building. At the center of the Baptistery, we find the octagonal tub of Greek marble and porphyry. The decorations are fantastic and leave no one indifferent.
