Lovely place for a wade through ice cold water coming down from the mountains. Take shoes to wade in the water as the pebbles are painful to walk on. There are other activities like body rafting and hiking. The basic entry fee to walk on your own is 7 euros. There’s also a very good cafe with a good selection of food with a nice outdoor picnic area where you can eat.

There are restrooms and a restaurant, it's a well manicured park and you will go on a short walk around 45 minutes, we decided to do the walk first and then refresh ourselves in the ice cold river.. It wasn't deep so no swimming there it's in a different place you can do swimming with waterfalls which is called Gurne of Alcantara... We still enjoyed it

No one told me the water is freezing, even on August! So be patient, after couple of minutes you will get use to. The scenery rewards your effort. Must see on Sicily! P.S come here in the morning, before 10. After 10 it's too crowded.

Beautiful gorge with a river running through it. Lots of optional fun activities. Walking up the river is challenging and the current is pretty strong. Make sure you wear water shoes, the riverbed is made up of sharp little rocks and sand which will hurt the bottoms of your feet.

fantastic experience..if u have family bring there..the park is so nice. We did the trekking river, the guy was fantastic....u can do it by yourself but is not easy and u will not be able to reach the same point..the guys know the river. Wear the swimming suit. If u do by urself buy some river shoes.

This place is amazing, ample of parking space, outside wooden chairs and tables to have lunch, clean toilets.
Price is reasonable fair.
There is a botanic garden lovely walk around 1hrs and after that a lift will take you down near the icy cold lake. One can hire plastic suit and rubber boots to walk comfortable in the lake.
The beauty there is not even the camera can capture it!!!
It closes at 17:30 so don't go late ....

This place worth seeing. We visited it in January and it was spectacular and I assume that in spring or summer is marvelous. The entrance is 5€ only for the beach, assuming that you take the stairs or elevator or 7€ if you want to visit the hole park. I recommend to take the full tour.

Amazing gorge, very cool and refreshing on a cool day. Tons to do with children or pets but also very fun for couples. Would visit again for sure.

A very relaxing spot 😌 the river and bird singing and beautiful gardens
We only were able to explore small part of the valley as the rest was closed for winter. Still worth it. I would spend there all day ☺

Great place to spend some hours on a hot day! Don't let yourself fooled by getting an expensive ticket via the theme park (unless you would like to see 4D movie etcetra) for the river and gorge you can buy a ticket at the small kiosk on the read for 1,50 for the easy stairs.

Fantastic scenery and very cool place to spend hot summer. Very amazing lava formed walls and the water is very icy cold despite the hot summer. As the whole place is full of small stones and pebbles, the best is to wear diving shoes and not slippers, one of my slippers got washed away by the strong river currents twice and got rescued by kind people twice! The way down to the river is about 200 steps. Tickets can be bought just at the entrance at about 2 euro each, we also paid about 2 euro for the parking nearby. There are a couple of bars and restaurants where you can catch a bite and drink. There is a bar selling drinks and snacks on the way down the stairs but it's always crowded.

Amazing and unique. A little mountain river, a bazaltic gorge created by lava, a beautiful water fall not far for the entrance. Some appropiate shoes, like beach shoes, its a must or if you are used to walk bare foot on the river pebbles should be ok. As a proper view around, when you'll buy tickets, ask for green wrist band( ticket).

We were there in the early morning. Together we have taken the "BASICTICKET" for 8 euros per person. After we bought the ticket we drove with the elevator according to Unteb. When we arrived at the bottom we found the mere nature again. Recommended are aqua shoes because the riverbed is very stony to rocky. Also, you should adjust that if you want to run the river high that it can be very cold for the legs and feet. So be careful. The flow is very strong after a few meters and can be dangerous. If you run down the river, you should also wear aqua shoes. There, the water is not quite as cold because there the sun is coming. You can run very far and but must consider that you have to go back. Unfortunately, this point is nothing for physically impaired people since there is no straight ground there. All in all, this place is highly recommended.

Very beautiful place with magnificent rocks and river. It’s better to take water boots or flip-flops, because you’re walking on the rocky bottom.

A must visit, very nice views, down by the river it was full of families enjoying the river.

The walk up top is nice thanks to the views you get of the gorge.

Take the elevator down and up if you don't want a hike.

Water is extremely cold, so be prepared for that.

Magnicient place! The creations of Nature are amazing. Better to pay for a ticket trekking and visit a botanical garden first. And throw an eye on the gorge from above. Then go down to the river Alcantara.
PS If you are taking a bus check bus schedule on website first. That one is on the bus stop is outdated.

I'm rarely lost for words.. This is of these occasions! 😀 🎉 🎂 🇮🇹 I had the ABSOLUTE best birthday ever! The canyon is breathtakingly beautiful and even if the water is extremely cold (8 degrees Celsius.. 😉) it was all worth it for an unforgettable experience 😍 I can't recommend it enough! One last thing... Don't pay for the private tour... The public entrance has everything you need

Amazing place.
Water was freezing cold.
Some tips to consider: take a water shoes with you as walking on the pebbles can be challenging and painful.
Loved every minute of my visit.

Very nice park, beautiful rocks and nice, cold trail. Recommend to bring shoes that can use to walk on the water (it’s very cold) because the small rocks can hurt your feet.

Absolutely incredible. We went there on a rainy day and it was brilliant to be able to walk around freely and go in the water. Definitely take beach shoes or flip flops as the stones are annoying
