If you are not from the Mediterranean, you will enjoy the trip and discover all kind of plants and trees

as a perk, and if you are lucky, you can pick up seasonal fruits

there was a possibility to have a guide and explore caves

Worth a detour to see all the varieties of fruit trees grown and sample some as you wander around. The temple of Vulcan was probably not worth the walk over. We also tasted a variety of marmalades they make - delicious. Also try the nut sweets.

Wow! Beautiful botanical garden on the site of the ancient Greek garden at the foot of the Valley of Temples. Also not to miss: the "hypogeum" -- an ancient tunnel carved through the hill (under the Temple of Castor and Pollux) joining the garden with the Fifth Gate.

After baking your brains out visiting the temple complex under the merciless sun, treat yourself.

If you like ruins and history, this place is amazing. The ruins are in very good condition. Some have been reconstructed, but the main temple is the original as it was used as a church and thus not destroyed for its stone. If possible, I strongly suggest that you hire a local guide as there is so much rich history and so many stories with this area. We learned so much from our guide, Marco. He was very kind and took the time to really explain to my son the history and about archeology.

If ruins and temples are not your thing, then skip. However, if you are interested in seeing and learning about history from over 2400 years ago, this is your place. I’m glad we made the stop here and we also enjoyed a one night stay in the town.

Worth a detour from the Valley of the Temples tour, even in the rain! In our guide book it said if you have the energy at the end but we did the tour in reverse and walked through the citrus trees - many of them heritage varieties, myrtles, strawberry trees early in the day. Orange blossom was heavenly. Interesting diversion and the homemade marmalade at the ticket booth is amazing! Try it 🥰

There are typs of fruits that you will never find in the markets.

Combination of intensive green and intensive orange, the garden looks like Eden. Quiet, shady and beating.
Still to be noted: earlier there were explanation signs by the trees. Now they are missing and it is totally unclear if you a bergamot or an unripe lemon, there is plenty of unnamed sorts

A bit expensive but it was wonderful to see this absolute amazing garden. The staff was really welcoming and you can buy some handmade products from fruits coming from the garden.

If you’re interested in the place citrus and plants have in the development of the culture of Sicily this is the place to soak it up. Greek, oriental, Arab etc. Read ‘Where Lemons Grow” by Attlee to put all that glorious “rubble” and heat into perspective. It’s also a peaceful cool antidote to tourism. Also, spend some few minutes sampling the various’ marmalades’ at the ticket kiosk. All made from the fruit of the trees below. Read the labels and info! Drill down into what makes Sicily such a horticultural crossroads, not just a tick box tour.

Fabulous experience. Went at the perfect time - April. The wild flowers were in bloom, all the citrus we're in bloom. It was breathtaking
