Beautiful hotel. So glad my TA booked us here. Staff was great. Room was large and bathroom was phenomenal. Bed was slightly hard, but since we prefer that, it was not a big deal. Breakfast is outstanding and there is a wonderful outdoor eating area in the gardens overlooking the countryside. Perfect place to share yet another bottle of wine at the end of the day.

We had a wonderful time! We were there for my birthday and loved every moment and corner of this enchanted jewel!
The place is very beautiful, pure poetry and the food exquisite. We were served by Angelo, whose advice and kindness made the experience just perfect!
We hope to visit again soon

We visited this beautiful castle at the beginning of August.
The location is wonderful, in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.
The staff is very kind and caring and Angelo is truly an angel.
We hope to return next year!

This hotel was so cute and peaceful with the most amazing views. Views from the room, from the breakfast area, from the Michelen star restaurant and just all around. Every corner was just so peaceful. A nice break from all the city crowds. I would love to come back and would definitely come back when I’m back in Tuscany.

We absolutely loved our stay here for our honeymoon and my birthday. The staff were all lovely, the food at the bar for lunch was fresh and delicious and the Michelin star restaurant was amazing! The only thing I did feel was abit steep was €16 for an aperol spritz.

Amazing place. Not just a 5 star hotel, but a unique experience in itself. The views and service were outstanding, do the Michelin Star restaurant - which you’d be paying double for in any major city. Easily the best place we’ve stayed in Italy.

Castello di Spaltenna is absolutely stunning. The views from the terrace restaurant, pool, and spa are like a storybook. Our three night stay here was fantastic! We ate at both restaurants (one is a Michelin star) and easily coordinated a wine tour day from Spaltenna. The hotel is a 10 min walk into Gaiole, where you can drink wine on the town’s main street or dine at a more casual spot.

The hotel was absolutely excellent. The hospitality, service, food, atmosphere, and the VIEWS were unmatched. We stayed here for the first half of our honeymoon and the hotel left us champagne in the room upon check in. They helped us with SO MANY recommendations for places to go, how to get around the area, and where to eat. Speaking of which… the free breakfast was amazing and fresh every day. The regular (casual) restaurant onsite was FANTASTIC while the Michelin star restaurant was, simply put, out of this world. The hotel and the entire grounds are stunningly beautiful, the infinity pool overlooking the valley is gorgeous, and again, the hospitality and service was top notch across the board. The staff knew we had to check out early on our last night (at 3am) for a flight and the chef even packed us up breakfast to go, with fresh fruit, juice, bottled water, sandwiches, and croissants - all easy to eat on the go. WELL worth the splurge.

We were travelling around Tuscany and we stayed just one night in the hotel. We chose as we wanted to go in the hotel restaurant as well by the reviews. The hotel it is a beautiful property middle of greenery. The medieval style of the construction makes you feel you are in an old castle. The staff is super friendly. Our room, was cosy, the bathroom was gorgeous with a very nice jacuzzi. There is an outside pool and an indoor. As the weather wasn’t perfect we just used the indoor one, it could just has been a bit warmer. The breakfast at the hotel was very nice, with many cheeses and charcuterie options. Just a lovely stay.

5 stars with a couple of "buts". First parking lot to checkin in on gravel a steep, but hotel will help with bafs. Second, do not even attempt to stay here if you have any mobility issues. Uneven steep staircases and floors (what else would you expect from an 800 year old castle?). But my wife and I loved it. Restaurant is a little pricey but worth every penny! Views from the back nearvpool are spectacular. Service is impeccable. Nice central location to explore the Chianti region.

The location was beautiful, rooms were luxurious, comfortable, and rustic. We were welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco, enjoyed a wonderful massage at the spa, and relaxed by the pool. Breakfast was lovely on the outdoor deck each morning. I loved observing the hills, olive trees, and vineyards while enjoying a cappuccino in the cool of the morning!

Truly something special: my wife and I spent just one night at Castello di Spaltenna and we couldn’t have asked for a more refined and idillic atmosphere. At the restaurant, we partook in an expansive undefined tasting menu which only added to the experience. Simply the best stay and food we’ve ever experienced. Find a way to get here.

Fantastic place! Really quite a place to relax and just unwind. Rooms were very comfortable and well taken care of by the staff. Views were extraordinary. Grounds were very well maintained. Excellent staff. Our only quibble would be the food. Despite having a Michelin star restaurant on-site (which to be fair we didn't try), breakfast and dinner on the terrace were quite ordinary. Great location to launch to other villages as well if you've got a car, which we did.

We spent a wonderful 2 days here after 4 hectic days in Florence. We were not disappointed - the facilities were very good and the staff were really friendly and polite. The food was excellent. There was a lovely candle-lit buffet-style dinner by the pool one evening, which was very atmospheric. Our visit was a fantastic end to our week in Italy.

Castello Spaltenna is located in a beautiful monastery from the 11th century.
The rooms were decorated with style and taste integrating the old building without superficial plushy appearances.
The staff from the manager down to every gardener did everything to make our stay pleasant, while we enjoyed the quiet Tuscan countryside.
We also had two pleasant dinners in the Michelin Star restaurant with both tasting Menus - appropriately called Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde. The Sommelier Thomas was able to create an accompanying wine list according to our tastes and not only to his gout (a rare feat among sommeliers).
We only had two days here but we will certainly return soon.

An awesome, authentic castle-style hotel in Tuscany region. Very close drive to all of the must-see Tuscan spots. The food and wine were one of the best I've ever had. Definitely highly recommend for anyone on a Tuscan adventure.

Wonderful 1100 year old monastery, later a defensive position in the town of Gaiole, in the chianti region of Tuscany. Rolling hills, beautiful grounds and views, attentive staff and well appointed accommodations. Good jumping off point to wineries, restaurants, midlevel villages and places of interest. Spa and masseuse needs work. Michelin star restaurant on premise, treat yourself

Really a top notch place. Reservation included not only a bed room but a living room. Very comfortable. Since the weather wasn't yet cold, we were able to sleep with the windows open. Sunny mornings coupled with a little fog in the valleys surrounded by tree-filled hillsides provided some spectacular scenes for pictures. Breakfast was included with our room rate and it was truly lovely - whatever you are used to eating for breakfast, you can find on the buffet. Plus any kind of coffee drink you desire as well as sparkling wine. One more thing - you could eat outdoors on the terrace so it couldn't have been better with the nice weather. The hotel restaurants - casual dining as well as the more upscale Il Pievano - were very good. The staff were very accommodating and helped us arrange (1) a winery tour/dinner, (2) car service to & from Florence as well as a very good tour guide, (3) winery tours in Monalcino and (4) a cooking class in nearby Lecci. The location was excellent for travel about the region, too. Couldn't have been a better trip - I just wish the Tuscan roads were a bit straighter! LOL!

P.S. Our traveling group was 8 people so the arrangements were not that easy to accomplish. Kudos to the staff!

Lovely place in the heart of Chianti. We loved the view, the tranquillity (dolce far niente :)). Beautifull rooms, decorated in Tuscan style. The castello has a very friendly staff who make the stay memorabel. Grazie!
