A very special dining experience. Andrea and Barbara are clearly very passionate about sharing their food, and they can tell you exactly where almost all of ingredients come from. The food was delicious, service and atmosphere were excellent and it was very reasonably priced for all of the amazing food and wine you get. The restaurant is small so you should call ahead for reservations. Thanks Andrea and Barbara for a memorable evening!

Excellent experience with great food in a beautiful home setting. The food is clearly a combination of honest ingredients and lots of love. When paying the bill, we felt as if we were robbing Andrea and Barbara as they are massively undervaluing what they offer.

Loved it... Andrea and his wife Barbara took us on a food adventure with all local vegetarian dishes, all of which were wonderful! The ambience and setting was very unique, charming, romantic and warm. An experience to cherish! Tip: come hungry and be conservative with the delicious bread as otherwise you'll be too full to enjoy all the creative dishes to follow!!

Italy is the country where the local identity and diversity are still preserved. To better appreciate this notion, which may remain somehow abstract, there is no better place than the tiny restaurant "L'Elisir del Poeta" in the small and enchanting "borgo" of Santo Stefano di Sessanio (near Rocca Calascio where the "Name of the Rose" with Sean Connery and "Ladyhawke" were filmed). Barbara, the chef, and Andrea, the maître d', are wonderful people who infuse the most delicious cooking with their hard dedication to preserve the local variety of produce. Here, I had one of my best meals ever. But it was not just a meal. I left the restaurant with their contagious enthusiasm for safeguarding the local tradition. Unforgettable! Like a great book or a poem.

PERFECT. L'Elisir del Poeta was the best dining experience during our trip to Italy. Andrea was the kindest host and we felt so at home in his care. The food was beyond delicious (Barbara is extraordinarily talented!), and we were smitten with the very obvious passion, love and thought that went into each dish. It was truly a unique experience learning about where the food was grown and the family recipes that had been used. We came to the Abruzzo region to have an authentic experience, and L'Elisir del Poeta delivered that tenfold. If I could give it more stars, I would!

A dream of a place - a restaurant like no other. It is as if you are dining in the most hospitable home. You are seated in an enchanting little room with only a few other tables - reservations are a must. By the end of the evening you are actually talking to the other guests because you have just shared in the most sublime dining experience you have ever had. There is no menu - the host brings out course after exquisite course of beautifully cooked food straight from their farm or local producers. A unique experience.

One of the highlights of our 2018 trip to Italy was finding your restaurant. We and our daughter and son-in-law had the most enjoyable meal, made even better by your hospitality.

I am not a vegetarian and we went because a visitor from the uk is a vegetarian. As a non vegetarian I have got to say that the food here was fantastic. There was a fixed menu which I really enjoyed, just trust the restaurant, they know what they are doing. Thank you to Andrea and his wife who are passionate about the food and where it comes from. The tastes were amazing. I will be going back.

Having the warmest and kindest of hosts, this quaint restaurant takes you on a culinary journey with the freshest of local ingredients. There is a specific reason why I don't have pictures of the dishes. You just dig right in as soon as you are served. Che dire, una piacevolissima esperienza e spero di tornarci!

Andrea and Barbara run an amazing vegetarian restaurant. The courses, the wine and the hospitality is simply excellent. I would highly recommend this place.

Amazing restaurant. They take care about every single ingredient and explain you in details what you're going to eat. It's absolutely intersting to know the origin of that dish. The place is not that big so reservation is strongly suggested
